Where Is The Condemnation? Or Does This Lack Of Condemnation Suggest Tacit Approval?
When an Islamist extremist commits an act of terrorism, some claim that a lack of condemnation from ordinary Muslims is tantamount to tacit approval.
When a white extremist carries out a bloodthirsty racist attack - should we expect the same condemnation from white people?

It's sad that many Americans show more respect for the 2nd Amendment than they do for the concept that people should be able to go about their lives in peace. I think after the Sandy Hook shootings it became clear nothing was going to chance.

I don't consider a lack of reposnse as "tacit" anything. That's just a presumption, and I have pointed that out on here before, because I have seen it claimed on occasions. I imagine that is SP's point- although, SP, like all humans, you are not above hypocrisy yourself, but I think you have a point on this occasion.

It's actually for all the same reasons. People think of themselves firstly. I've lost count of how many suggestions and questions on here have been about paedophile rings or terrorists being a "Muslim" issue. I don't think I have ever seen a male poster ask why these are "male issues".
People want to distance themselves.
People want to distance themselves.
Against - a good point pixie374…yes. I think that people naturally want to associate ’bad things’ whatever they are with something ‘other’. To distance themselves. I await to see the reaction to the next (depressingly regular) mass killing by a white supremacist or Islamic extremist…see how the stories are treated.

SP, Islamic extremists do what they do in the name of Islam. That is why people don’t understand why more members of the ‘club’ don’t object. Conversely, the overwhelming majority of white people don’t belong to this murderer’s club and therefore have no connection whatsoever to it or him. In fact they find his philosophy utterly abhorrent - which is one of the reasons all right minded people fought the Nazis. I trust that makes it clearer for you. Incidentally, it wasn’t only black people who lost their lives. He has been charged with several counts of first degree murder and has pleaded not guilty. I hope they throw the book - and more - at him. That’s all I have to say on the subject.
Thank you naomi24. Nicely put. Totally understand where you’re coming from although I question why anyone would think that moderate ordinary Muslims would consider themselves to be in ‘the club’ anymore than moderate ordinary Christians would consider themselves to be in the sane club as (say) the Westboro Baptist Church.
hmm, apparently it's really all part of the war on white people
