...anyone could see what would happen, I won't be going anywhere for a year hopefully by then the airlines etc would have sorted their staffing issues. You'd have to be radio rental to try and get away now.

//Why do so many Brits want to escape, from the UK .// Same old drivel about Brexit gulliver. People did go abroad on holiday, mainly for the sun , before Brexit you know. In fact you left the country before Brexit. Being in the EU then cant of made it such a good place to live then ?

Those who have tickets will go to the airport with the hope they will get away ?
What a mess Britain is in, can’t even leave the country you have paid for .
yes its a good opportunity for you and gulliver to knock Britain but its the same problem in other countrys airports too- see my post on Amsterdam Shipol airport which is struggling more than UK airports.
What about Glasgow and Edinbrough airports and Cardiff.... whose faults are these
Those due to travel this weekend will have booked months ago with no hint of this chaos. Having said that masses from the UK have already managed to holiday in Europe and long haul in the last coupleof months with none of the current problems.

anne: "What a mess Britain is in, can’t even leave the country you have paid for " - Britain is not in a mess, calm down dear, the travel industry laid off thousands during covid, now they are understaffed, end of.
As you say Bobb, seems to be an international problem.

Only to be expected I suppose, its normally busy anyway this weekend but with people being cooped up for two years there was bound to be a stampede.
Haven't the airports recieved millions in help from the government.

I am travelling tomorrow and hopefully fingers crossed I will get there.
Why would I knock Britain? I choose to be here .

prudie: "Those due to travel this weekend will have booked months ago with no hint of this chaos." - what platinum jubilee bank holiday weekend busy? nooooo! Entirely predictable, what we have here is confirmation, if it were needed that. most of the public are thick as pig ***.

anne: "Why would I knock Britain? I choose to be here ." - yeah but all you do is knock it.
Ttt. Show me where I knock Britain anymore than the average aber .
TTT I have to agree, people decide to travel on Bank Holiday weekends then complain about the queues . There are always queues on a BH , have been for years and years well before Brexit. What prompts a person to think 'oh we'll have a holiday, lets go on Jubilee/Bank Holiday weekend?

Anne, I donm't think that the average Aber knocks Britain.Just a few of the usual suspects.

//Ttt. Show me where I knock Britain anymore than the average aber .//

Choke splutter.

Not enough room in the answer box for all of those !!
Danny , I don’t know who ‘ the usual suspects are ‘ .
They'd have known it was going to be busy and should have expected some queues but also would be expecting to take-off. The airlines took their money when they knew damned well they didn't have the crew or support staff to make it happen. I don't know how people were supposed to know they were going to be shafted.
My daughter and her partner travelled to Italy yesterday...no problems whatsoever.
Maybe because they went from Heathrow.
Anne, you will notice that the same names come up time and time again to moan about what is happening in the UK.
//The airlines took their money when they knew damned well they didn't have the crew or support staff to make it happen.//

Whilst I suspect there is an element of that there are other factors at play. For starters the Airport staff who the airline have no control over. Secondly there is a big problem with obtaining security clearance for people. This is a general problem across the Civil Service (I know I was hit by it - took nearly 6 months for my SC), again the airline cant be held responsible for civil servant failings.
Danny, in truth I don’t know who always knocks Britain on AB . I don’t think I get so involved .
