I agree.
The 22 have published its timetable for voting and installing Johnson’s successor on 5th September.
Corbyn the mug voted for a General Election in 2019 when Labour were not ready, and that led to the Conservatives gaining an 80 seat majority.
Labour are still not ready and would not win a General Election. Starmer is just as deluded as Corbyn was 3 years ago.

It will be embarrassing for them. Perhaps he is being pushed into it so the backers can push him out when the vote goes horribly wrong for him.
Someone should mention to him, turkeys dont vote for Christmas. The wagons will circle on this one, Johnson has gone that is what some MP's wanted so why a vote of no confidence?

Given the amount of candidates standing for Tory leadership he’s probably realised that this is the time they’re at their most divisive and is pushing his luck.
Opportunities for him will be limited before the next GE, he’s got to use whatever levers he can in the meantime.
Ed Davey is no different.

I think, I may be wrong, that losing a VONC means the government has to change but not necessarily through a general election initially.
I can see the attraction, because it would throw the Tories into chaos. They'd presumably have to find another leader in the meantime, or eles go into a GE with Johnson, which would surely be a catastrophe, even if he won (!)
But it is hard to see Tory MPs at this stage going with it.

Perhaps Kier is being pushed into it so the backers can push Boris out when the vote goes horribly wrong.
It depends more on whether the party hacks feel Boris is doing far too much good in his last days- for himself that is!
and want him out
A lame duck Prime minister who HAS to be a lame duck as his reputation is so bad.
can you imagine if Boris tried " I am not doing this ( X) for myself, in fact it is not in my or my family's interests, it is in the country's! in act as Lucius Foo-foo said in Harry Potter - omnium consensu, capax imperii nisi imperasset"
( Latiny bit to show it is Boris)
would that be attended by raucous laughter and er snide comments from those who can write
or
I am going soon ( says Boris the Borrower) and there are a few more things I would like - not counnting the Lordship when I leave the commons eventually and the tree house, and the wedding
but also - not for me but little loo-loo....
would that be attended by - "well give it to him on condition he gets out by Friday!"

the VONC won't succeed
it doesnt have to succeed to succeed
or as TTT might quip, quick as salt - "foo fooda ding dang rentals!" which erm means the same ( I think)
Teresa May said one vote is enough ( on some vote on booting her out or not) and she got far more than one - twenty or forty.
She was out within three months.
so as Ken quipped

//And comes across as vindictive and kicking a man when he is down.
Still, that the left I suppose. No idea of Gentlemanly conduct.//
Lol, like the gentleman who was warned by his advisers not to use the false Starmer-Savile claim but went with it anyway?
The gentleman with a string of ex-wives and impregnated mistresses?
The gentleman who covered up for a sex pest and got his ministers to lie about it for him?
Seems everyone across the House want to hold him to account for what he’s done, Tory and Labour alike.
Places is full of 5C lefties, well, definitely 148 Tory ones, some of whom were also the 52 who left office just prior to him giving up the ghost and having to be literally unceremoniously dragged to that lectern by his own.
Traitorous, Marxist scum eh?
PMSL, do carry on!
