// In Kyiv, there is deep scepticism about Russia’s intentions but Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said Ukraine was trusting in the UN and Turkey to police the agreement.
The aim of the deal is to secure the passage of grain and essential goods such as sunflower oil from three Ukrainian ports, including Odesa //
Sink their fleet? Sadly not even that will work against SLCM and ALCM.
The thing is, there are no official sanctions agains the export of Russian grain. What is happening is they are unable to get commercial companies to take it. I can't see how this deal facilitates that. And if they are going to lob missiles at the ships in port then there is even less chance.
And if there is nothing in it for these ***, why would they play ball?
This deal is dead in the water already.
I guess they would claim that nothing was in transit yet. Utterly against the spirit of the agreement though. The Ukrainians do need to clear the Black Sea.
yeah foo ( sozza wrong fred)
the govts usually underwrite in these situations ( indemnify war damage)
clearly no one wants to go near Russian batteries
I would advocate NATO intervention to drive Russian forces from SE Ukraine and free up Odessa as a working port. If Putin feels lucky let him push the button.
In all fairness, if it eases a potential famine then I’d not be against doing whatever to get Russia’s grain out too but only from their own ports of course.
