The same crackdown we’ve had for the last 12 years of Conservative government?
Glad to see they’re finally going to address it and not before time! Lol
Forget Rwanda, re-commission a large ship , put them on it so it’s far enough out in deep water, feed them and go through their requests for wanting to be here, pointless putting them up in hotels where they can roam freely
Hot air.
Stating an intention is not a lie. Why is literacy such a problem on AB?
> Former chancellor Mr Sunak ... described the UK's migration policy as "broken" and "chaotic".

That's the migration policy his own party has put in place for the last 12 years, including the years that he was a senior Cabinet member.
Petty obvious.
There were 29,000 illegal crossings last year, and Patel budgeted enough money to send 70 to Rwanda.

Instead of abandoning the who stupid scheme they instead plan to expand it wasting more hundreds of millions of pounds.

We would still keep 99% of the migrants in the UK. To send all of them to Rwanda will cost £47 Billion.

I had hoped that a change of leadership at the top of the Conservative Party would herald a new direction, some new ideas and much needed change. All we are getting from the two candidates is more of the same failed policies.
Leave the immigrants here and export all the sane and normal Brits, all 100 percent of us....I'll tke a posting to a French or Italian vineyard, thank you.
The scheme to send illegal migrants to Rwanda was announced in March. And so far this year crossings have doubled on last years astronomical number. So much for it being a deterent.
Gromit,

Exactly. They had the candidates to do just that but instead chose the lowest common denominator by going for a Johnson cabinet member.
That’s what’s going to damage them the most.

Your request is delayed because of a blocked ferry port or cancelled flight.
Canaries for me ( Lanzarote) but I’m not fussed, any of them will do
I know lets swap each one of them for a 5Cer! They hate the country, immigrants want to come here, win win!
Good idea Tora, for those that berate our wonderful land and sovereignty, they can do a swap leaving room for those that want to come here but of course there’d have to be a cut off date and still keep within the figures we have at the present?
"The UK stands to lose the £120m it has paid to Rwanda if the plan is ruled unlawful by the courts at an upcoming hearing.

Both leadership hopefuls said they would explore similar deals with other countries."

Perhaps they should wait until the legality of the first one is determined?

I've no idea why anyone is even bothering to chew this over. It's election talk and at the end of it all we'll get what we get - and from this pair that isn't going to be much.
So if no one goes to Rwanda, they get to keep the £120million. No refund, for no work.

Which idiot wrote that deal, and which idiot signed it?
It was immediately obvious that it was legally dubious, but they hand the money over anyway without a get out clause. Just about sums them up.
The change of leadership is proving to be pointless.

Instead of hitting the ‘reset’ button, they are just pressing ‘resume’ where we were. A missed opportunity.
Why do people continually harp over what politicians promise them? Work on the assumption that all politicians tell lies. These two were senior members of the government when they did nothing to stop the unfettered invasion of these shores by unwanted vagrants. What makes you think that situation will change when one or other of them become PM?
^
That is a very depressing post NJ.
Have we really come to this ?
When they get inside British Coastal Waters, just machine gun the lot of them. No exceptions. We need a deterrent. What do you think? :o)
