Gender is now a largely meaningless term, mainly determined by an individual's opinion. Since human remains have no opinion, assigning a gender is inappropriate and it's best to stick to biological sex. Similarly, race (at least as far as can be determined by a skeleton) is a matter of fact. Unfortunately those with a "woke" agenda frequently want to deny or at least refuse to accept fact, preferring instead to encourage or bully others into accepting various fictions. This seems to be part of that agenda.
