More big brother.
Out of the top ten cities with most CCTV cameras, London lies in 7th place. there is one city in India and the other 8 are in China.
London has 627,000 cameras, compared with Chicago,35,000 and New York 11,000.
on a serious note, i'm in the "Nothing To Hide Nothing To Fear" camp

//He doesn’t need them, GCHQ already have those at the press of a button.//

Being deliberately thick again? GCHQ has no agenda to fine or impose costs and restrictions on individual citizens. It has no legislative, administative, or policy making brief and isn't in the business of harvesting our data to line its own pockets or impose a political ideology by stealth. Remember that if the extremists, from either wing, ever get into power that these systems will still be operational. They will control them, and then you won't need someone like me to point out that they were a bad idea waiting for the right time to show how bad. When all these surveilance systems are finally used to decide who gets what and when, and who goes where and when, it will be too late to "notice".
I'm also in the "Nothing To Hide Nothing To Fear" camp.
I can't say I'm much bothered. Facial recognition technology seems much more invasive than car recognition technology.

I like the Met saying "We need this to stop us getting things wrong."

Lol, I think you’ll find their remit goes way beyond such paltry measures.
But don’t let your paranoia get in the way of that.
You sound more alarmist than the lefties mentioned in the link.
simple answer - don't drive in London!
Nothing to hide nothing to fear ?

Except trigger-happy cops.

Sian Berry is the Green Party candidate for London Mayor.

She is wrong. TfL already have this data, so of course they should be able to make it available to the police if requested to do so.
Every car has an identifying number plate, and every other driver, onlooker or dash-cam can read it and record it if they want to.
I suspect her motive is more anti police, anti men than privacy concerns.
i think this is wide open to abuse and i do not tend to trust the police.
i agree with togo
What sort of 'abuse' is this type of information open to?
Nothing to hide, nothing to fear!
I agree.

I'm also in the "Nothing To Hide Nothing To Fear" camp.

and so am I ! I seem to get into the category of "these allegations ( sexx again: I am 70 and not as active as Sqad) are very serious, can you refute them? So serious they are, we dont have to prove: you have refute." And then damme - you find they had info / data that showed I wasnt in the frame and er kept it back ! ( standard interrogation technique)

Police: more info: more mess.
Yeah and what about the poor junior doctor who was reading his Harrison Textbook of Internal Medicine in Palma whilst his eleven pals went hell raising.
He was included in the 11 ( yeah so equals 12 yeah) for riotous behaviour in Palma on the Spanish doctrine of "common purpose". And then had to face the GMC on the grounds of foreign conviction.

that would be one to forget
I guess that would be Sqad who stayed behind studying...

Fats ... You ignored this.^ Again I suppose we must consider this oversight as caused by a lack of comprehension skills. Also lacking in civility and courtesy, but that is demonstrated on a daily basis.

I didn’t ignore anything, I just didn’t give it any credence as most didn’t either if their replies are anything to go by.
As for the civility and courtesy I can’t help it that your sensibilities were hurt. Maybe don’t start with the insults if you can’t withstand a retort?
Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re all out to kill ya.
