Businesses will be struggling to to heat their premises for their employees over the winter, also industries which use a lot of energy could struggle, how are all these going to manage apart from increasing prices to cover it, making inflation worse?

In fact, the impact on businesses of ridiculous energy prices will have a much greater impact on inflation than the cost of domestic energy will. Just about every business will be subject to increased costs and these will have to be passed on to the end consumer. Giving them a few hundred quid off their energy bills will be but a drop in the ocean.

Successive governments (of all persuasions) should hang their heads in shame at the dogs' breakfast they have made of the country's energy strategy. It is sitting on billions of cubic metres of gas and millions of tons of coal but their use has been severely curtailed because of ludicrous ideology.

Exactly NJ, no politician of any persuasion has mentioned the effect on business and they are all still in thrall to the eco loons no matter what the cost is economically, it is absolutely insane.
A small theatre in Suffolk have come to the end of their fixed rate tariff and are now facing an increase of £47,000 fir their energy.
Vicious cycle - cost of living goes up, workers demand pay increases; costs go up.....
