Furthermore have these ‘Wokes’ got nothing better to do with their time than complain, ? What a pile of sad sacs we live amongst , and when will companies like Argos stop kowtowing to them

I am with you bobby, all this woman/men malarkey but I am quite lucky in that I am coming to the end of my life span and will leave the world in a confused, angry, confrontational state with which I cannot undertand. What is this "counselling" for kids who have got poor grades in their exams? Never had that in my day and I have seen little evidence that counselling...

Women's two-man Bobsleigh. That really is stupid.

Well it made me smile Gromit ;0)
All just a fuss about nothing, imho. Getting your frillies in a twist about it won't lower your blood pressure, Bobbi.
As has already been said, does it really matter what Argos - or anyone, for that matter -wish to name their delivery teams? Items being delivered on time and in mint condition is the only thing which should be of concern.
Question Author
No frillies here Ken , I’m neither concerned or offended or any other adjective used although like Sqad , I’m sick of seeing the constant pandering to the Wokes, I’ll let you know about myBP at a later date :0(
It won't stop,it's called progress. As one gets older the world moves on. Sadly as one gets older one is much less reluctant to change. It was ever thus, and rather akin to saying "what's all this rubbish the kids listen to niw, back in my day it was proper music" just like parents who were victoriana being rather grumpy about flappers, orpeople brought up when being gay was illegal holding their head in their hands in the 80s and saying homos deserved aids because of their life style. This change and (mainly) older people don't like it
Question Author
Well that’s me and Sqad told ,:0)))))
bednobs you are correct in saying that old folks are resistant to change.

However when you see the changes causing conflict, confusion ,crime, then you tend to look back and say "it was better in my time."
What, "conflict, confusion ,crime" has Argos caused by making its announcement?
Corby.......my answer was to bednob's post which appeared to be a general point that she made, rather than a specific Argos centred reply.

Sqad I’d give up, I have , it’ll open the floodgates to ageism ;0)
'Moving on' I assume to be in the right direction. Unfortunately much of this 'moving on' seems to be taking us on a backward trajectory.
Just wondering when menstruate and menopause cannot be used.
I have no problem with the usage of "2 person"...it's a better description when the actual gender of delivery personnel may not be known. I guess what bugs me is that these things need to be announced, causing long and time consuming arguments/ discussions. Seems changes used to happen without being put on Twitter, Facebook etc etc etc.
‘Woke’ is American English, and as such, I will not use it.

// Among conservatives, woke has come to be used primarily as an insult. In this pejorative sense, woke means "following an intolerant and moralising ideology". British journalist Steven Poole comments that the term is used to mock "overrighteous liberalism". Romano says that on the American right, "'woke' – like its cousin 'canceled' – bespeaks 'political correctness' gone awry".

Opponents of progressive social movements often use the term mockingly or sarcastically, implying that "wokeness" is an insincere form of performative activism. Such critics often believe that movements such as Black Lives Matter exaggerate the extent of social problems. Linguist and social critic John McWhorter argues that the history of woke is similar to that of politically correct, another term once used self-descriptively by the left which was appropriated by the right as an insult. //
// no need to be nasty Bobbin...//
Sure you meant me maggiebee? My name's Bobb but am often called Bobbin on here). Perhaps you meant Bobbi
bobbi......LOL.....it doesn't bother one iota as I can't remember what I said, what who said and why after 30 mins on AB.

I have even got to the stage where I start typying and mid way though the sentence, forgot what I was going to say LOL

53 is hardly a long and arduous argument but hey ho
Afternoon sparkly , welcome to the house of fun or….welcome to the lions ,den da da da da da
Question Author
Sqad you mustn’t put that , they’ll have us in care homes soon :0)))
I can see there are more important things to complain about that using man to mean person....but theres also more important thing's than complaining about people who complain about it...

Maggie meant me Bobbin, rest easy
