Funny how nothing that happens make the religious doubt their devotion.

you're using mass deaths to get in a cheap dig at other people's religion?

Pathetic.

// more than 1,150 people killed and nearly half a million people displaced. //

And you start an anti muslim thread.
I think it does make them doubt their devotion.

The essence of any mainstream religion is believing that your deity loves and cares for you, in the face of overwhelming minute-by-minute evidence that he couldn't care less.

This puts an immense strain on the concept of belief, while simultaneously being a major strut in its support system.

People who believe have to tell themselves that the utter miseries their deity lets them suffer without relief is all part of a 'bigger plan', to which, or course, they are not party.

It doesn't work for me, but it does for them.

Bang on AH, that's the sad thing, it's the will of Allah for some greater purpose that mere mortals cannot understand. That's religion for you.
Their leaders will be telling them it's Allah's punishment for their lack of devotion. And sadly many will believe this and become more fervent.
Agree pasta, cheap immature shot. Not all Indians are Muslim.
It’s more diversionary posting to deflect from the other threads where the Borstriches are getting a bit of a hiding…..whilst they’ve gone into hiding.

anne: "Agree pasta, cheap immature shot. Not all Indians are Muslim. " - who mentioned indians?
Sorry, jno . :-)
Partition(1947): Which initiated the religious divide, India for the Hindu, Pakistan for the Muslims. Some people need a bit of a history lesson.
What AH said is not bang on. It’s way off. When Muslims suffer hardship they believe Allah is testing their faith. Hence their faith doesn’t waver.

Terrible situation there.

That's what AH said Naomi, "This puts an immense strain on the concept of belief, while simultaneously being a major strut in its support system. " - I took that to mean that they accept what happens as a test of their faith as you put it.

canary: "Partition(1947): Which initiated the religious divide, India for the Hindu, Pakistan for the Muslims. Some people need a bit of a history lesson. " - indeed, take note Anne.
So not gone AWOL then?

Well I would have said so ZM but the devotees accept it as some sort of master plan. Religion eh? The ultimate con trick!
That isn’t what AH said, TTT. He said he thinks it makes them doubt their devotion. It doesn’t. Not in the least. If anything it strengthens their devotion because they need to pass the test, so to speak.
We have every right to believe. It's my right. Give people some respect.
'If anything it strengthens their devotion because they need to pass the test'

Yes, but that's only because their Imams and parents have taught them that throughout their lives, just as many Christians believ/ed in Hell as a way to keep them on the straight and narrow.

naomi: "That isn’t what AH said, TTT. He said he thinks it makes them doubt their devotion. It doesn’t. Not in the least. If anything it strengthens their devotion because they need to pass the test, so to speak. " - that was part of it, they start doubting then because they are brainwashed they then realise that it's all part of some master plan, so they make excuses to themselves lest they become apostate and return to the devotion side of things.
