Not again, yawn. The man wasn't an idiot - he got a 2-1 in Classics from Baliol at Oxford, diappointingly so to him apparently...as he had been to Eton as a scholar. He was also President of the Union.
He may have been at times crass, outspoken and made some bad judgements but an idiot he was/is not. He also writes incredibly well - and, Gulliver, I am talking how he writes not content. He's up there with Henry Kissinger and if you haven't read the book, 'Diplomacy', I commend it to you - it's a joy to read and explains a lot of Britain's attitude to Europe, based around historical events and facts.
