Why aren’t there any negotiations in place? Didn’t the former Minister for Brexit Opportunities get anything moving?
As predicted by her own, is Truss already scuppered before she’s even set sail?

There’s been a change of PM too.
Regardless of the administration, as a promise of Brexit it should’ve already been done and dusted shouldn’t it?
Or what was ‘the PM who works so very hard’ doing exactly during his tenure? Maybe he could’ve been smoothing and securing said deals during his last few weeks of squatting, in light of the fact that he did nowt else?
Seems the only US/UK trade deal he managed to secure was with a certain Miss Arcurri when he was Mayor, but those were for a very special kind of service.

a trade deal with the USA was always going to be long and costly… and not just in terms of money… big powerful trade partners will expect us to compromise on our sovereignty… in the case of the USA they will expect us to adjust non-tariff policies in a way that favours their food exports… e.g. reducing the minimum health standards that food products must meet to be sold in the UK.

this of course would mean a de facto impingement of sovereignty - another country writing our internal laws by sheer economic power rather than through supranational laws but it amounts to the same thing… brexit will not in the long run protect this country’s sovereignty because ALL major trade deals will require us in some way or another to compromise on it
