/Scientists and engineers have
told Sky News the UK's position
as a world leader in research is at
risk from "significant brain drain"
amid doubts about what will
replace funding after
negotiations with the European
Union stalled.
The UK was negotiating a deal to
remain in the EU's £84billion
Horizon Europe funding
programme.
However, Brussels is refusing to
resume talks until other Brexit-
related disagreements such as
Northern Ireland are solved./

Will the influx of European bankers that the government recently forecast(on the premise of uncapped bonuses) make up for the lack of talent in other fields moving in the opposite direction?
Will they ever solve the Northern Ireland problem part of the ‘oven-ready’ deal?

Maybe the planned reduction in the top tax rate from 45% to 40% will help?
Ah, hold on...
The EU dont seem to want the NI problem solving though....well they havent had any ideas for a solution. It was just there way of making Brexit difficult and discourageing other countrys from thinking of leaving

Obviously not, the government did a massive U-turn on that.
Odd stance you have though considering you said last week you wanted Starmer in power?
Or are you flip-flopping like Truss too?
I suppose it’s to be expected, even one(sort of) ABer who actually voted for her has quickly changed allegiance!
So fickle.

It isn’t their problem to solve, it’s ours…….even more so in light of the fact that the government said it was a ‘done deal’ and was all ticketty-boo?
Seems someone was lying…..fancy that?!
//It isn’t their problem to solve, it’s ours//
Not really. It has to be acceptable to Ireland/them.
Say we solved it by stopping all checks..... would they say well done you solved it, no they wouldnt
It turned out the done deal ended up being a Matthews turkey roll than a gold seal oven ready.:0)
yes they 'fowled up' inaway but it was a means to an end to stop Brexit dragging on even longer

So why did the government tell us it was ‘oven-ready’ and we were leaving on our terms?
Who signed off on it?
They wouldn’t have lied to the public and are now having to row-back on what they said, are they?
Not the Boris Johnson government, surely?

Why is Biden telling Truss to ‘get it sorted’? He isn’t saying that to any of the European leaders as far as I’m aware?

https://news.sky.com/story/joe-biden-to-tell-truss-in-some-detail-that-uk-must-negotiate-with-eu-over-northern-ireland-12702183

/The US president and the prime minister will hold a delayed meeting in New York on Wednesday, where world leaders have assembled for the United Nations summit.

Ms Truss declined to discuss the protocol with France's Emmanuel Macron during a meeting on Tuesday, and No 10 did not say if she will raise it with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen./

Do you understand now how Truss is damaging to the UK with her silly remarks about domestic and foreign leaders?

I like Kier and I know you dont have a party preference but can you remind me what his solution is?

I’ve no idea, not seen the party manifesto.
That said, as he’s not in government(yet) it’s not his problem to deal with, is it? It’s the job of the present administration.
Don’t do the ‘whataboutery’ rubbish until he’s actually in power.
Aw, please don't leave us, Mr Fatticus.

Nothing to add but insults again Spicey?
More of the same pattern…..

Insults? Heaven forfend, Mr F. I was simply asking you not to join the Brain Drain. We're not all out to 'get you', old chap.
Question Author
No problem, me old china. As you’ve asked, I won’t.
lol..

well I got it, Spicey.
A Brian drain isn’t a lack of talent moving abroad. You seem to be confused again.

//A Brian drain isn’t a lack of talent moving abroad. You seem to be confused again.//

Not really. Those words are text from the link, take it up with originator from Sky News.
Seems the confusion is elsewhere……again.
But don’t let that stop you from addressing the OP?
The "Brain Drain" has been a scare story since Adam was a lad. Change the record! Intelligent (brainy) folks like to live in the UK. End of.
The article doesn’t mention a lack of talent. You postulated:
‘ Will the influx of European bankers that the government recently forecast(on the premise of uncapped bonuses) make up for the lack of talent in other fields moving in the opposite direction? ’

Why would we be worried about a lack of talent moving abroad?
Davebro. Do you really mean what you just said? I mean, really mean it. Sincerely and honestly, no bullshipping. You can be honest with me.
