Glastonbury Price Increase

Next year's Glasto will cost an eye-watering £335 - that's an increase of £70, or over 25%. Who can afford that sort of price in these hard times?

With tickets for a single music concert, lasting just a couple of hours, often starting from around £80 these days (and with a couple of hundred quid or more to see a major artist not being unknown), £335 to see many artists performing across 32 different areas throughout a five day period seems very reasonable to me.

It needs to be remembered that Glasto is run by a not-for-profit organisation, with any profits made either being re-invested back into the project or donated to charities. So one can't accuse the organisers of being exploitative. They're simply ensuring that they meet the vast cost of putting the whole thing together.

Not in the least bit expensive considering all the entertainment you get for that money. I went a couple of years ago and the 'idea' of Glastonbury doesn't match the reality. You can have a very civilised time because not only do you have areas for tents, but ALSO camper vans.

So the £335 isn't that expensive - but you're not going to pay that. There's food, drink, camping equipment (if you don't already own), transport...come out quite expensive.

If you go in a good year...thoroughly worth it.

But the loos are pretty horrific.

They increased the number of attendees massively a year or so after I stopped going so the whole thing has got a lot bigger.
It was probably 40 stages last time I was there

All proceeds from the festival, after expenses have been deducted, are donated to various charities.

Mr and Ms Eavis are in a position to enjoy that largesse, but thousands of people who work at and around the event work for a living and have to be paid.

In order to continue to pay the support teams properly, in view of the raising of overall costs, the ticket price has to rise.

It still represents excellent value for money, and it will sell out, as usual.

Lots of people who work and save. I think it's a bargain. Stop somewhere else for five days and see some of the best bands in the world.

I think it’s over £600 for a 3 day pass the the British Grand Prix this year. That doesn’t get you into any stands for the actual race. Crazy.

Have to say (as an old geezer) that Glastonbury is an attitude of mind, a life-enhancing experience, something that stays with you for ever.

If you want to go, you’ll find the money. It’s not that eye-watering a price, really.

I first went in the 80s, and I bought a half price ticket from a local for £21. The “loos” were beyond horrendous and I can’t remember who was playing on the big stages. I believe things are much better now.
