Not yet confirmed by No 10, but if this is true then that's a massive shock.

It's high time that Tories, like me, admitted that this is the biggest political *up in generations. No more excuses, no more having a go at Labour.

///Two weeks ago, on her first day as PM, Rishi Sunak supporter Grant Shapps went to see Ms Truss to see whether he would remain as transport secretary.
As she outlined the reasons for sacking him, she nevertheless told Mr Shapps that he was "one of the most competent secretaries of state in government" and "probably the best communicator in government" - but because he didn't back her, there was "no room at the inn".///

How to do joined-up governance.

//I disagree, Jim. The electorate didn’t oust Boris and he’s still the best chance of Conservative victory at a general election//

…..provided he has the weirdy-beardy fella from Nazareth with him too! PMSL.
Thanks for the laughs, please carry on.
Jim, I’m not sure he would want to be leader again - or even remain in politics in the future - but why would anyone want to support the Tories after they’ve sacked their winning PM? Take a look at the alternative.

I am still puzzled how a government that has lurched from crisis to crisis in the past month, with a new leader who's flip-flopped like a flippy-floppy thing, and now even it's supporters have serious doubts, can continue.

Let's have a general election which I guess the Tories will lose, then they can have a blood-letting and sort out what they stand for. Labour can take over a tanked economy, get criticised for it and be out of power again in 5 years.
Labour wouldn’t get a majority. You’d end up with a box of squabbling all sorts.

An improvement on the current chaos then?
You're not allowed to use Twitter on AB, Jim. ;-)
Interesting video, OG.
Are you not, spice? Since when?
Since I used it last week, Naomi.
I got a right telling off from a couple of AB stalwarts.
I think Jim might get away with it. ;-)

Not a majority …..a landslide.

Squabbling all sorts? In contrast to the bickering Tutti-Frutti’s we presently have??

Hope I haven't killed off this entertaining thread with my slightly off topic contribution. ;-(
Ohhhh …. I see. Thanks Spice. :o)
Bust-up over immigration, convenient dismissal on a technicality.

Apparently

Under Truss we've had the shortest terms of office (in my lifetime) of Chancellor and Home Secretary, who's next for the chop?
She wasn’t dismissed, ich. According to BBC News on now she resigned.
Still with the BBC. She’s acknowledged her mistake and resigned - but her letter of resignation seems brutally critical.
Shapps: the man who ran a pyramid selling scheme under a false name. The man who tried to organise a rebellion against Truss only 14 days ago. Appalling people.

You'll be saying next it was a Hunt appointment intended to force Truss into a humiliating resignation (oh).

I don't think it's against any explicit rules -- and in this case it would be pretty stupid, since I'm only sharing an official press release from the (former) Home Secretary the way she did.

Sorry if you got into trouble, it had nothing to do with me. As far as I'm concerned there shouldn't be a problem sharing tweets, especially when they're manifestly relevant to the topic at hand.
