Dorries Predicts General Election If Sunak Wins

Former culture secretary Nadine Dorries has claimed that if Rishi Sunak were to win the Tory leadership race the country will be in "general election territory within weeks".
Mr Dorries, who is backing Boris Johnson in the race to become the country's next prime minister, claimed that the privileges committee would focus on the former chancellor if he were to be elected as the next Tory leader.
Last night, Mr Johnson and Mr Sunak were said to be locked in talks as speculation mounted over whether the pair could strike a deal.
Sir James Duddridge, a friend of Mr Johnson, said the former prime minister had the support of the 100 MPs required to reserve his place in the vote.//

We agree! Well, certainly whilst she was a cabinet minister(that was a joke appointment by Boris just to wind up the media, obviously) but all she does now is demand Boris be PM and that he always told the truth.

It rather illogical.
If the privilges committee is what we are talking about plainly the danger is much greater with Johnson. If he had to resign - again - I don't think the calls for GE would be able to be resisted.
And surely the poor old Downing Street lectern has suffered enough ...
But then this is Nadine Dorries for you.

There are some such as Dorries and Priti Patel who side with Johnson because it's their only hope of getting a ministerial position again.

There can only be a general election if enough Conservative MPs are dis-satisfied with the result.
It would surely be political suicide for the Tory party to have a GE now. There probably are enough MPs as daft as Dorries, but when push comes to shove, they won’t force an election.

Yet the Tories are?? Do the last 3 years, 3 months, 3 weeks or 3 days not register?
Talking of 3’s, just about to get a third Tory party leader this year! How many chancellors and/or Home Sec’s have we had in the last 3 months??
Another set of 3’s was Truss saying ‘we will deliver’……she must’ve said under her breath chaos, ineptitude and misery.

So when will Labour be ready then, in your opinion?

The Tories don't want an election now. Too many of their MPs would see their political careers come to an early end.
If a week is a long time in politics, two years is an eternity. In that time things could only get better for them. They couldn't get any worse than they are now.

It looks like Sunak and Johnson will, for very different reasons, split the party if either wins. So I don't see why the Tories don't go for the unity candidate, who will presumably appeal equally little to both wings: Penny "Jim Hacker" Mordaunt.

As I said over the weekend, we’ve got the revised(for a second time) mini budget that it’s already acknowledged will mean further cuts to public services and Austerity 2.0, increased mortgage and food costs, an increase in inflation, more rail strikes, impending industrial action by doctors and nurses and a harsh winter in all senses.
But the bankers will get their bonuses and the oil/energy companies get their huge, bigger-than-expected profits that the government refused to put a windfall tax on.
That’ll cheer everyone up as they’re deciding on hearing or eating?

Get any worse? It hasn’t even dawned on them yet……

In unifying terms alone she clearly has more chance than Johnson.

Labour are ready now. They have the party apparatus and unity to fight an election campaign and win it.
Are they ready to Govern? That was the dilemma in 2010 when the Conservatives had been in opposition for 13 years. The answer is the sam, if elected they will be ready to Govern. And let’s face it, this lot are not an hard act to follow.
