davebro; //who?//
If you don't know who Peter Whittle is, you must have been dozing for the last couple of decades.

I can honestly say that your heading is the first I have ever seen or heard of Mr. Whittle.
2019 GE - 20 candidates, total votes 3295 (165 per candidate), no seats.

Obviously a force to be reckoned with!
was that the WHOLE party membership at the conference?
// What is there not to like? //Tories

Yet another ploy designed to 'bash up' the Conservative party.

Is there no end to your ingenuity?
He seems to have made a career of not being elected.

With respect (& I mean it) if people like you don't know of people like him. I wonder how can the country ever get out of the mess it's in?

I asked in the OP what's not to like about what he says in the speech, so far no one has answered that, just the usual stupid ad hominem comments.
I didn't listen - the sound system on my laptop is poor. Is there a transcript?
Surely the SDP sold out and merged with the Liberals to form the Antidemocratic Dregs party, ages ago ?

Politicians come & politicians go. If they don't have what it takes to become recognisable by the general public then hardly surprising they won't stay in the memory. Even main parties rarely have more than a handful that get into the public's consciousness.

OG, Times change, things move on, but if you want to stay in your cave, no one is forcing you out.
Question Author
DAVEBRO, it is subtitled.
Reasonable speach though. One might have mistaken him for a Reform member, but apparently only this SDP is holding that position, those views.
// stupid ad hominem comments. //

Isn't this exactly what Whittle did when quoting Evelyn Waugh.
This SDP does not appear to have any connection with the SDP from the 80s, other than using the same name.
Whittle does not seem to be a member, but to represent (his own?) New Culture Forum.
SDP? I thought he was in UKIP, the SDP died in 1988.
Can't image why anyone would think that the UK is just a cave. But there again one can't imagine why one would reanimate the corpse of a dead party (Halloween or no Halloween) when better known, more popular parties cover similar ground.
BTW one might elicit fewer ad hominem comments if one didn't flirt with the same tactic.
