Hymie, is it your smart meter that doesn't work or your in-home display? If it's the smart meter your bills won't be accurate.

Smart meters (electricity not gas) installed before 2021, do not have the technology inbuilt to remotely interrupt the electricity supplied to the home. The telemetry only extends a far as transmitting usage and customer behaviour patterns.

My point about the free lunch was the complaint switches depending on who you think is really paying for it.
