I think it was wrong that the World Cup is being held in Qatar and every country taking part should be allowed to display their national flag inside the stadium but dressing up as Crusaders in a Muslim country has left me flabbergasted. Yes, St George is England's patron saint even though he wasn't English and never set foot in England but anyone who has a smidgen of understanding about the Crusades would realise that this costume is not appropriate at this world cup

AH, It wasn’t English foreign policy - it was foreign policy involving all of Christian Europe. After 1000 years it’s time Muslims got over losing. They’re worse than Remainers! ; o)
// it’s time Muslims got over losing.//

Did they lose? Not many Christian countries in the Middle East.
They won all the sand, davebro, and a few got some oil.

Well played.
For a while, Dave.
The list of things these places are offended by is quite a long one.
Presumably these fans only had a problem getting into the game and nowhere else.
Another black mark for the tournament I’m afraid

It turns out they had been living and working in Qatar building the stadiums. £3000 for each costume. They really should have known better
Merely repeating what I said before: they seemed to be going about perfectly happily and offending no one ... until they got to the stadium, where as we know fans have also been prevented from wearing rainbow colours. This ridiculous restriction has now been lifted.
It strikes me more as heavy handed officialdom more than anything else. There are plenty of "Crusaders" themes, especially in sport (and indeed Saracens) and I am pretty sure there is next to no offence caused by any of it. Qatar is not exactly Iran, either.
// (Saracens) and I am pretty sure there is next to no offence //

So more Simon Templar than Knights Templar?
davebro
as suspected - most footy fans are bloomin' eejits!

Speak for yourself - or at least narrow your target range a little!!!
naomi - // After 1000 years it’s time Muslims got over losing. //

The pedantry of your post aside - what exactly have Muslims 'lost' that they need to get over - in your view?
Jerusalem.
What about the Islamic Ottoman Empire which ruled Palestine and Jerusalem for 400 year until early last century?
It's to be hoped they do not see the three lions on the england football
teams shirt or that will upset them.
What about it, Corby?
NAOMI, you said Muslims had lost Jerusalem but they regained it and held into it for five centuries.
I know, Corby. As I said at 19.47, for a while. They have, however, now lost it again … and I’d hazard an educated guess that this time it’s permanent.
