Labour propose to abolish the Lords, great agree 100%. Shame they seem to have bundled it up with a load more devolution, regional government etc. The last thing we need is another layer of snouts in the trough and devolution thus far has been a total catastrophe, why would they want more? Abolish the HOL by all means but drop the devolution cobras.

They'd at best get a minority government and that means they'll never get something like that through. Too many MPs see the HOL as their retirement home. Though I applaud the intention to abolish the HOL not so much the plans for further devolution.

Devolution has been a great success for Scotland and Wales.
We need to close the Commons and the Lords and England should get its own devolved Assembly in Manchester or Birmingham.
The second chamber should be comprised of delegates put forward from the devolved UK assemblies the numbers being dictated by the populations of each country.

Careful what you wish for. The EUSSR consider themselves the "upper house" in all things legal, fiscal, and moral. They would love another obstacle to their devious ambitions removed, and a further fragmentation of the United Kingdom's safeguard against tyranny and dictatorship weakened. Starmer is doing their bidding in a pernicious way that only a lawyer can.

//What has Brussels got to do with Labours proposals// ...
Err read my posts. It is the EUSSR's desire to usurp the Upper House, Starmer's proposals are his entry fee to the Eeeyoo gravy train. The ambition of every you man rites lawyer is to have a contract with the evil empire. Just like Cherry "ripe" Bliar.
