As previously stated, the source is Russian Telegram channels, which are a more reliable, uncensored source than sanitised press releases.
Whether the attack grounded an imminent operation by the orcs is probable speculation on his part

I have looked up who Aleksey Arestovich is, and various sources paint him as a dodgy character. A member of a far right nationalist organisation, propagandist, and actor.
I am looking for a more reliable source than the Russians, but no one here in the west is reporting anything like the Arestovich version.

It isn’t the “Arestovich” version.
Arestovich is often not a reliable source of stuff (often he is) but Russian telegram channels very often are - for the reasons stated earlier. While the exact figures may be questionable, I tho I it’s plain this was a much more serious attack than is being admitted. For ages when the Ukraine military had imposed an information blackout they were the main source of finding out what was going on on various battlefields.
If you want a laugh, look up Dmitry Medvedev’s 10 predictions for 2023: everything from the UK rejoining the EU (which then disintegrates naturellement as a result), to civil war in the US.
