Sunak's Failure to sack Zahawi shows how the PM is hopeless weak and frightened, as Sir Keir reminds him and says we all know why the Pm was reluctant to ask his partys chair questions about family finance and tax avoidence.
Would it be because Sunak and his wife are as guilty as Zahawi is ????.

A PM that obeys orders, especially from HM Opposition, would be weak indeed.
Straight from dishonest Johnson’s playbook.
Ignore the question, waffle on about something else.
Flush all credibility down the lav.

When it comes to tax avoiding. The Cons are all in this together. Let's hope they get their comeuppance at the GE.
Only around 500 days to go now gulliver... we're both chalking them off . It'll soon come round.
Zahawi will bow out (be given the boot) in a few days.
And Sunak will look even more pathetic, and today’s woeful performance will be remembered by everyone (possibly not TTT).
The shine is fast rubbing off of the wee grinning man.

Liz Truss in a tight suit?
well I paid a penalty a few years ago - to the taxman
an issue so complex ( gift as notional disposal for tax ppurposes) that even I didnt understand it.

I wdnt dream of declaring it ever - BUT police for example have to declare debts and some professions ( law I think) dont allow bankrupts ( also Manch city council)

Had to laugh at Sunak, while clutching an entire folder's worth of pre-prepared responses whilst accusing Keir Starmer of reading from a list of pre-prepared answers .

Big failiure with Sunak is he is still following Johnsons "One rule for us and another for the General Public"
attitude ........And even more so when it comes to paying ....HMRC.
Its a pity that the leader of the opposition doesn't do what the opposition should be doing. Talking and challenging about the war in Ukraine, Strikes, Transgender, The Economy amongst many any things. Instead he tries to score cheap politic points which does his credibility little good.
^As always.

Gramps82 @ 09.02 It's not opposition who should talking about "The economy amongst many things"
It is the present serving "couldn't give a toss for Joe Public" Govt, who ruined the economy ,that should be doing something about it.
Gulliver, //It's not opposition who should talking about "The economy amongst many things" //

Unless Mr Starmer thinks petty point scoring will win him an election - and going by his continuing performance it seems he does - of course the opposition should be talking about all those things.
Gulliver @ 09.17. Of course its the opposition responsibility to raise issues as mentioned in my original post, that's their job and what 'joe public' would expect. Starmer could learn a lot from great opposition debaters such as the late great John Smith and even Tony Blair. They raised issues which were important to the running and the safety of this country. They did waste precious time raising issues about who paid what in tax.
The lack of any constructive opposition highlights the weakness of the current leader of the opposition.
.And even more so when it comes to paying ....HMRC.

no - the beeb have made a horrendous mess of this and are unwilling to clarify - penalty is payable to the HMRC and is NOT a fine ( payable to the court/state)
and you can be fined AND have a penalty ( Doddie and Lester Piggott).

they are also saying ( probz at the HMRC behest, HMRC emoji nice face) that errors per se dont attract penalties

They do. I am speaking From (bitter, bitter) Experience ( HMRC emoji scowl). The let out is that HMRC never agree it is an innocent error. ( easy that one)

These points are not too er TAXING for the average AB reader are they?
'Petty points scoring': redefined this day.

In that case petty points will hole Zahawi below the waterline.

Is this similar to Johnson, defending Owen Paterson and The Pincher .... Bring it on.,, Who will be the next Con pm in this term of Tory sleaze and greed.
I wonder how long before Zahawi resigns, not because he has done anything wrong but because he has become a, "distraction"?

Question Author
TCL @ 21.48 "Not because he has done anything wrong".... Only had to pay the tax man £5m . nothing wrong in that. Wish you were my accountant TCL.
