How Long Can Zahawi Hang On?
Now that the boss of HMRC has said no one pays penalties for innocent tax errors, even TTT must be regretting giving him his support.
And Deskdiary asked me ‘have you considered that your thread was deleted because you were lying?’
It looks like the one who is lying is Zahawi.

perceived as lying by the deleters....
Harra was the one telling poikies - innocent ( zero penalty) was 'not negligent' - BUT forgetting or ignorane is taken as negligent ergo
I have paid a penalty. ("you can appeal if you want: you will be turned down"). I was watching the charade as a small lickle fella would watch Wackford Squeers at Dotheboys Hall.
(Kinda like Clinton- I did nart have sex with that woman)

Honourable gentlemen don't get accused of dodginess between the lines after getting caught, or rather they do, keeping on denying this and that right up until the taxi arrives to take them on to the rest of their disgusting, hypocritical life.

HMRC also make mistakes,i was PAYE all my working life and they had first dabs on my wages, yet when i retired they told me i owed them money because they had been taxing me wrong, even though they had set my tax for the 52 years i had been working and i had to pay them out of my pension and could not challenge their decision.OK
Nicey is wrong - HMRC do a certain proportion of spot checks. They also have flags to flag up past naughtiness. It is SAID that if you have an acct you are LESS likely to be investigated - not sure about that one.
Zahawi's relations are likely to be flagged - FOREVER ! - like his papa
You are all a bit innocent and wet behind the ears innit

fripfrip - I was taxed on my brudduz gross income once
and another time
the clerk input my pension twice - once as pension and once as earned income. - so they wanted tens of thousands of pounds of unpaid tax at 4 weeks notice.
Notice was machine generated and no one checked
there is no cause of action of negligent assessment of tax
good huh ?

Once they get peed off, zay have a leedol ploy
"we think you owe £10 000 extra tax - show us why not"
[God didnt anyone watch the Seame St special " Gonzo and friends and Sched D tax assessment"? Obviously not, too busy].
Someone a year or so got a Dear John letter for £5.5m - and PAID !
Meant that the taxman cdnt continue investigating I think

I don't understand how the word 'careless' can be used to such an obvious tax avoidance.
watch the whole lot again
avoidance is lawful. ergo ( ergo negligence doesnt come into it)
Girlie MP questioning Harra ( Hd HMRC ) today
" Negligence means being foo-foo, and has a general meaning...."
Harra smiles at her obvious ignorance
Negligence at common law is NOT the same as negligence in tax law and penalties. Harra knows this, MP doesnt.
Result - obvious confusion, intended by ONE party
This allows Harra to come out with honeyed words - "of course if is just an innocent error, no one no one not even the hardest hearted tax man....."
MP ( Labour) smiles grimly as she assures herself she was RIGHT
he (Harra) does a whoopsie - - "innocent in the tax penalty legislation is defined as non-negligent" - which almost gives the game away, and squares the circle.
