Just heard on Radio 2 that Sunak has sacked Zahawi. More to follow, no doubt.

Sunak said at PMQs that he would not sack Zahawi until the matter had been properly investigated.
That was Sunak trying to look strong.
And now he has been forced to sack him, and Sunak now looks very weak and not in control.
Though he has lasted longer than 46 days, it hasn’t took much longer for Sunak’s inadequacies to be found out.
Our problem now is that we are on our third lame duck PM, and stuck with him for the next 18 months, and he can/will do enormous damage to the country.

There are a lot of very clever people in the Conservative Party. With experience of how to properly use the power the electors have given them. Long time members who have been there and done that, and some clever new members with good ideas.
Starting with Johnson, and then Truss and Sunak, anyone with any talent has been shunned and marginalised, replaced with talentless toadies, loyalists and opportunists.
And the result is always the same - chaos, mediocre governance and a splattering of sleaze/corruption.
The next 18 months are going to be very tough.
