Do they run their utterings past focus groups or summat? Of course it's a 'hate' crime, whatever that is.

hate crime has a specific definition
a crime, typically one involving violence, that is motivated by prejudice on the basis of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or similar grounds.
the police are investigating if the murder/manslaughter was motivated because of her gender.
Father Brown proved the ineptness of 'The Plod' - not much has changed. They really need to be assessed for myopia.

I know that bednobs, but they didn't at the beginning for whatever twisted logic that goes on in high offices.
A definition that discriminates/prejudices some crime over similar ones and thus has no place in a civilised society. If one is a victim one doesn't need to be told one's experience is not as serious as someone else's who suffered the same.
if you know what a hate crime is, why say "it's a 'hate' crime, whatever that is" like you don't?

A murder is a murder, whatever the motive.
You can tell the murder victim's family.
Besides not all so called hate crimes involve death.
but this one does, and similar ones will, so i dont really get your point.

The comment was on the original police statements suggesting it wasn't hate related.
they originally said there was no evidence that the killing was a hate crime.... which is not the same thing as saying it definitely wasn't one...
