//…the economic consequences of climate change are going to be pretty horrendous if nobody does anything to mitigate it//
The economic consequences of doing what some – particularly European – countries are already doing and are further proposing will visit far more economic damage on their citizens than climate change ever will. Governments of the world need to accept that nothing they do will control the climate, and turn their efforts instead towards coping with it rather than continue pretending it can be controlled.
The nonsensical hysteria that is gripping children as young as five, courtesy of their fanatical parents, is nothing short of child abuse. Young children should not be exposed to such hysteria. Unfortunately it leads to things like this:

One of the proposals from this “study” is a system of “carbon rationing” where individuals would only be allowed to buy so much of certain polluting goods. The country is desperate for growth. An ever-increasing population requires ever-increasing economic growth. It’s not a model I subscribe to because I believe that an ever increasing population is completely unsustainable. But governments of all hues seem happy with the idea. If they are, the notion that individuals’ spending should be curtailed in this way is nothing short of lunacy. If consumption is to be curtailed the surest way to achieve that is to reduce the over-population (which causes far, far more damage than climate change ever will). But that is seen as heresy and that’s what happens when the lunatics wrest control of the asylum.
