//Last week, it emerged that the best-selling children’s books were being rewritten to remove language considered offensive.

The word “fat”, for example, had been cut from every book. Augustus Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is instead described as “enormous”.

Camilla gave an impassioned defence of free speech and the right of writers to express themselves at Clarence House on Thursday 23 February, just days after she let it be known privately that she had serious concerns over the changes to Dahl’s books.

Puffin has now issued a statement announcing that it will make both the original and censored versions available to readers.//

Well done, Camilla! A victory for common sense. I sincerely hope that every copy of the edited version is left to rot.

So it's not allowed to call someone fat, but no problem to say they are enormous?
Yes, we'll done to the Queen. And I agree with Naomi about her. Best thing the King ever did was marry her. She's a great asset to him and to this country.
A great asset?

Rear of the year contender?
Of course!
//Next up, no doubt, will be something like Enid Blyton's Famous Five or Ransome's Swallows & Amazons...//

They renamed Titty from Swallows and Amazons for the more recent film so it's started already.
zebo \Titty from Swallows and Amazons\

Gasp, shock, horror! Wash your mouth out with soap, young lady ;-)
Shock !

Horror !

What text next?

The Holy Bible perhaps - the Lady of the Night of Babylon :-D

How?
//just days after she let it be known privately that she had serious concerns over the changes to Dahl’s books//
To whom?

//In what was interpreted as her disapproval of the changes made to the text of Dahl’s classic books, the Queen Consort said: “Let there be no squeaking like mice but only roaring like a pride of lions!”//
So she didn’t actually say she disapproved!
That indicates she disapproved to me Red.
She may have disapproved, Miss, but the OP claimed that she forced a U turn. A rather silly claim, really, but a common logical error. The shaman dances and trances and the rain arrives. 'After' shouldn't mean 'because of'.
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." Leviticus 18:22, KJV
‘ best thing Charles did was marry camilla’ . It was fortunate they waited until his wife died .
True Atheist. But her words definitely suggest she disapproved.

Depending on the meaning(s) of the word 'lie', it's arguable that Johnson did both.
Miss; so did you and Naomi, but that doesn't mean you caused the event.
Whenever I see an OP headline using 'The Queen', I think a mistake has been made as our lovely Queen Elizabeth is dead and they meant to put 'The King'! I personally don't see Camilla as Queen (Consort or otherwise) and I'm not really a fan, but if she stopped this stupidity, then good for her.

Atheist, the ‘OP’ took the claim from the Independent. See the link.
I am sure this has done great stuff for the sale of Roald Dahl's books in the last week
Just read that all Charlie and the Chocolate Factory books are to be pulped because of suggestions of drug-fuelled homosexual excesses.
His wife didn't die, his ex-wife died.
