Small Boats: France To Get More Money
//The Times newspaper has reported that the UK will give France more than £200m over three years. ...Last year, the UK agreed to pay France £63m a year to increase surveillance of French beaches.//

Someone somewhere has failed to notice that paying the French is not working. Furthermore, if the plan to send the boat people straight to Rwanda comes to fruition (not holding my breath with that one), before long the boats will stop coming so is there any point in paying the French even more to carry on doing nothing?

Rwanda wouldn’t need to take many at all.
paying france erm, is it not an eu problem really, they let them all in
and we are not in the eu, paying france is like paying a thief to rob your own house, or paying a mugger to beat and rob you, all hamstrung by outdated laws like the u.n convention, echr...
the uk and the eu have made rods for there own backs.

gulliver1, are you ill, on meds...brexit or no brexit, france has always treated the uk the way they do, de Gaulle was the same, although he didnt mind succour from the uk then, even ran away from france to stay here at the time, guess they never got over waterloo or trafalgar. i bet in years to come, when europe is on the brink of civil war, because of migration overload and riots, britain will have gunboat diplomacy...
Fender 18.57...In answer to your question.
No I am not ill or on meds but you lot in he UK must be Drugged up to the eye balls to keep on paying France millions of £s to protect your Borders which the UK cannot control themselves ,and you know Macron is going to take the money and still look the other way when the rubber boats set sail for the UK. Sunak and Macron are just playing monopoly with tax payers money.

“ They're coming from tatty tents in a muddy field in France but they get here, they're fed and watered, they're accommodated in hotels, and they get, free of charge, any medical treatment they may need. Perhaps instead of giving money to the French we should take a lesson from them.”
what do you think would be the consequences of withholding medical treatment from people who need it? particularly the consequences for the people who need it

fender\have a moritorium on migration until we have sorted out the ones already here, to me its an endless growing list.\
Wouldn't a moratorium on migration simply keep adding to your growing list??
I wish Rishi and Suella the very best of British in trying to implement their new immigration bill!! Unfortunately there is a glaring lacuna in the proposed plan. That is, there is no recourse for genuine claims of persecution to seek sanctuary here in Britain.
This has been pointed out by UNHCR and leaves the UK in clear breach of the Refugee Convention!!
Maybe, just maybe, one possible solution, (thinking aloud now or is it blue sky thinking - lol), the UK contravenes international law!!
In the short term pays ££Billions in defending its actions through the courts, whilst dispatching those arriving in small boats back to
a safe country or their country of origin. The UK must make its message loud and clear - people smugglers and small boat arrivals will not be tolerated!!
Let's face it, the UK has a very good record with its resettlement programs offered to many fleeing from persecution and wars over the past decades. Is Rishi brave enough to ignore any ruling by our very own supreme court?? Would he have the support of the H of C??
