// The BBC has decided not to broadcast an episode of Sir David Attenborough’s flagship new series on British wildlife because of fears its themes of the destruction of nature would risk a backlash from Tory politicians and the rightwing press, the Guardian has been told. //

Shameful. Anyone spot a theme developing ?

The sensible, and honourable, thing to do OP, is to admit you got this one wrong.
From Alan Sugar and Karren Brady to Richard Osman and Nadiya Hussain, there is nothing new about TV presenters writing about politics ...

Let’s not keep making excuses for him. Making unfounded comparisons with 1930s Germany goes beyond expressing political views. If he’d stuck at criticising the government’s plan in a sensible manner I doubt a word would have been said but he allowed his mouth to lead him into the realms of the taboo and in doing so overstepped the mark.
I think bbc over reacted but he had been warned before by bbc and chose to break guidelines again
Anyway this is about the Attenborough nonstory.. there's threads about Lineker seperate
"Peter Pendant gave a good answer to this elsewhere. " - you sure?
TTT, from choux. //My apologies to bobbinwales for mis-crediting what he posted (and not Mr Pedant). //
as far as I can tell all 6 episodes are available Gromit, what are you on about?
09:16, phew, I thought it was unlikely.
sorry that should be 09:21
5 were commissioned by bbc and will be shown and on iplayer. Another show was commissioned by rspb or some other wildlife body and that is to be on iplayer. Big fuss about nothing
Some may be of the opinion that the BBC overreacted but, comparing public figures with Nazis is dangerously close to hate speech and could trigger activity by less sane folk.

In addition, it is the slippery slope issue; if one doesn't nip things in the bud they form a precedent, and it's likely worse then follows.

Best that the BBC let those celebs (footballing or environmental) that won't behave go to do their own thing; and start again.
Even if it were true I still don't understand about "its themes of the destruction of nature would risk a backlash". All of Attenborough's programmes across the entire world have always had a huge element that focussed on the destruction of nature. It's not new. And destruction of nature in the UK is just the fault of the Tory Govt? It's only the Tories who want more housing, want 1000s of foreign nationals to come and live here, legally or otherwise because it's humane and all the ripping up of the countryside to support that infrastructure is it?
"if one doesn't nip things in the bud they form a precedent,"

Who needs to nip things in the bud in this instance?
^ Do you ever have an opinion on anything? Lately all you seem to post is asking others for links or evidence, it's almost robotic.
Do you have evidence to support that...?
The BBC should be vigilant and nip things in the bud whenever & wherever they find it. Indeed the whole of society should be equally vigilant. We are all responsible for how we let society turn out.
10:15, such is the lot of the professional contrarian.
OG, "We are all responsible for how we let society turn out."

There is doubt as to whether the proposed changes are in accord with human rights convention and legislation.

Perhaps Gary Lineker believes it to be a slippery slope and is attempting to nip it in the bud?
