Shows how serious falls can be as we get older. I quite enjoyed Edna but hated Les Patterson. Saw Barry at the Theatre Royal, Norwich years ago, he was very funny. RIP, Barry, thanks for the laughs.
I saw a one-man show in London in 1976 - gladioli featured greatly
The funniest sauna in town - -
(Heathrow had 16 consecutive days over 30 °C from 23 June to 8 July[5] and for 15 consecutive days from 23 June to 7 July temperatures reached 32.2 °C somewhere in England.]
He was a very funny man. I saw him once in a London theatre where my dad bought us tickets in the royal box….boy did Enda take the pee out of us. Very funny it was. If I remember rightly, we got a few gladdies.
I saw him on stage years ago - a wonderful entertainer but I was glad not to be sitting near the front - those oeople were teased unmercifully. I'd forgotten about the gladdies - dear Barry .RIP
yea we have lost another great sadly, i mean who didnt watch the dame edna experience, innuendo like old school that didnt need f this that and the other, probably lost on the younger crowd, he was great.
lots of parky interviews, very funny on youtube.
Would you call Dame Edna a drag act? I know that it's a man playing a woman but it's usually a dolly-bird they pay not an old girl. It's really no more a drag act than Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough.
bhg481, drag act no, that's not what humphries was, if any thing it was a *** take, that served him well, as well as his les charcter, he was a comedian who rinsed it for what's it worth, taking the proverbial, absolutely, was it funny, still is...take offence erm get over it.
Very sad, another legend lost. All of his characters made me cringe and I would never watch, but nevertheless I had great respect for such a successful performer.
