Though when William the Conqueror was being crowned, his soldiers inside the abbey all bashed their shields with their swords in assent; the soldiers outside thought there was a riot and started burning houses down. I think having Cliff singing would be a better omen.

The coronation playlist appears to be just that. 26 songs on a playlist, not actual performances and Cliff isn't on it and neither is Paul Mc except on the one Beatle entry.

It's fair enough. If one isn't a royalist, there's no reason why you should be part of any coronation related thing. Were they asked if they wanted to be?

Bowie refused various honours, which is why he was plain David Bowie when he died. I don't know what he felt about the monarchy though.
