It was a civil case and civil cases in the US are difficult to defend as they only have to show it was likely to have happened. That said, 30 years ago he probably did do it as it wasnt unusual.

However, the timing of this is suspect and very stupid. Of course his supporters will scream 'stich-up' and being held in the Democrat NY how many of the 'jury' were really impartial?

Sadly I suspect this will elevate him, despite the lefty love in on here, and the World will be stuck with him or Biden instead of some you dynamic person to lead the West into a prosperous and sound future.

E. Jean Carroll has been telling the details of what transpired since it happened and during the intervening years.
The fact that it took so long to be resolved may appear strange to us but, as we know, the American judicial system seems a peculiar and unwieldy institution.
However, it seems to be generally agreed upon that Trump was guilty of a sexual assault.

Don't the jury have to have concrete proof before saying a person is liable . What proof did they have except for her saying that it happened.

andres, as this was a civil case the jury had to determine whether Carroll’s legal team proved that Trump committed battery against Carroll by a 'preponderance of the evidence' which is a lower requirement of proof than in a legal case.

Trump’s legal team has pointed towards quite a lot of evidence to show that the Carroll case is dubious and perhaps politically motivated. She can’t recall when the event took place, for instance – not even the year. Trump’s lawyers also put to her that it was a curious coincidence that Carroll’s description of the alleged incident echoes a plot from a 2012 episode of the TV show Law & Order.

They had the benefit of evidence and legal arguments to which none of us are party.

We have to accept that they heard said evidence and arguments, and on the basis of what they heard, they convicted.
