...how many Brits living in the EUSSR get to vote in their elections? This could backfire badly, they seem to forget that 35-40% of Labour voters voted BREXIT.

So what party lost over 1,000 seats at the local elections?
Sounds like an attempt to sway the vote ratio towards forcing Brits back under EU control. If not rejected comprehensively and quickly by the party then hopefully voters will see through this and generate a landslide against any party supporting it.

mid term elections, only a fool takes any notice of them. Blair/Brown lost council seats in 11 of 13 years they were in. Why is Sir Beer talking about becoming Tories? Clues are there!

19:03 it was Tony Blair 1999, 1150 seats lost, glad to be of service.
Think Sunak ought take his wife's money and run now before he has to face the humiliation of handing the keys to no 10 to Labour next year or hopefully sooner.

First of all, the article in the link talks about extending the vote to EU nationals staying long term in this country. If they are here for an extended period and paying our taxes, is there an argument that they should have a say in how our country is governed? Secondly, the article talks about extending the vote to 16 and 17 year olds. Are you happy with this? Do you think they would want to rejoin the EU? If so, is that a reason for denying them a vote, because it is not in accord with your way of thinking?

perseverer: " If they are here for an extended period and paying our taxes, is there an argument that they should have a say in how our country is governed?" - yes as long as UK nationals in the EUSSR do also.
"Secondly, the article talks about extending the vote to 16 and 17 year olds. Are you happy with this?" - no, frankly I think it should be raised, kids are all socialist until they get some assets.
"Do you think they would want to rejoin the EU? If so, is that a reason for denying them a vote, because it is not in accord with your way of thinking? " - They may well but even they would baulk when they see the punitive conditions the EUSSR would impose.
Starmer and his far left commies would give away your ancestor's heritage and your offspring's inheritance in a destructive act against the United Kingdom. A process that was begun by another EUSSR vassal called Bliar. If the people of Britain vote for this suicidal option then they don't deserve the right to govern themselves.
No sane individual wants to give kids the vote. So that's not acceptable anyway. Give it to 16 year olds now, then 14 year olds next followed by 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, then pre-birth no doubt. Stop when you get sufficient naive new voters pleased with you for letting them be involved.

No, if a migrant is a foreign national (especially if they are permitted to vote in their own country, but even if not) they are still not British, regardless whether they are here for a weekend, or a few decades. It's nonsensical to even consider they have any right to vote as a foreign citizen in the country they happen to be in. For a politician to suggest such a ploy clearly gives the suspicion that they have a (hidden) agenda; and it doesn't take a genius to sus out what it is.

This is underhand manipulation in the hope of gaining power. Shame on he who dares suggest it.
In Portugal we can if we are legal residents
Citizens of three EU countries are already allowed to vote in general elections as are citizens of Commonwealth countries.
The left wing let the dead vote in America Geezer. Gawd elpus.
"Donald Trump has claimed 5,000 dead people voted in 2020 in Georgia, a state he lost to Joe Biden on his way to national defeat.

He was off by 4,996.

As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Monday, state officials have confirmed four cases of dead people voting.

All involved family members submitting votes for the deceased, cases in which the state has the power to levy fines."

Public Interest Legal Foundation)Pilf) which describes itself as a public interest law firm dedicated to election integrity, cross-referenced state records and found that 7,933 North Carolinians were still registered to vote “long after death” in 2020. Roughly 12,940 deceased registrants were found on the rolls in the spring of 2020. Some had been dead for 20 years but always voted democrat.

The U.S. Western District Court of Michigan denied a plea by Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (Democrat) that sought to halt a lawsuit alleging she kept nearly 26,000 dead registrants on the state’s voter rolls. In November 2021, the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) filed suit against Benson accusing her of keeping nearly 26,000 dead registrants on Michigan voter rolls and thus violating the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA). PILF’s lawsuit alleges that 25,975 dead registrants remain on Michigan’s voter rolls, including 23,663 registrants who have been dead for five years or more 17,479 registrants who have been dead for at least a decade and 3,956 registrants who have been dead for at least 20 years
Last year, PILF successfully got Pennsylvania’s Democrat state officials to remove thousands of dead registrants from its voter rolls following an initial lawsuit. In that case, officials were accused of keeping at least 21,000 dead registrants on voter rolls for the 2020 presidential election.

The dead voters in Chicago elected Kennedy in 1960. It is a leftie tactic to cheat and lie when the ballot box is available. Starmer is just trying another sly manoeuvre.

TOGO, what relevance does an allegation of dead electors voting in a foreign election more than sixty year ago have with the question?
"" It is a leftie tactic to cheat and lie when the ballot box is available. Starmer is just trying another sly manoeuvre.""
