For him to admit this now, it must mean hes trying to distract from something bigger and trying to get his side of the story out before the papers do.

His statement to the Daily Mail began, "'I am making this statement via the Daily Mail, to whom I have already apologised personally for misleading, through my lawyer who I also misled, about a story [sic] which they wanted to write about me a few days ago." so they clearly had some information already.

I remember years ago the Sun had the goods on someone - alas, I don't remember who - and twisted his arm to give them an exclusive interview, with the promise that they'd go easy on him. He just walked out and gave the Mirror the story instead, to spite them.

His reference to the apology he gave to his wife for being unfaithful got me to Google to see if Steph Lowe had divorced him. My search came up with a video on YouTube which named the young Runner and alleged Ruth Langsford's part in being the whistle-blower. The Runner was fired and allegedly "bitter, wanting to tell all to a tabloid for a huge sum of money". Later both Ruth and Eamonn were dismissed from This Morning but P.S. remained. It further alleges that the Runner's sacking forced P.S. to "come out".

It also alleges the Runner says he first met P.S. when he was aged 10 years. The video claims P.S. started to mentor the boy and then publicly followed the boy on Twitter when he was aged 15 years.

There is a short segment (undated) in the video where the Runner and P.S. are in conversation:
P.S. - "I'll see you in 3 years."
R - "See you in 3 years. I wonder what we'll both be doing then?"
P.S. - "If I'm still getting away with it I'll be a happy man."

No wonder he looks anything but happy now.

This video was posted on 20/5/23. I expect a tabloid is anxious to get an exclusive, Bank Holiday weekend? Not tomorrow:

Choux I have already seen the video I believe you referred to and I appreciate why you posted what you did.

However the fact the video makes a specific claim can not be a justification for repeating it unless that claim can be substantiated which as far as I am aware, it hasn't.

There are lots of claims and allegations on the internet about what the background is and if websites want to do nothing about them, that is up to them.

In the meantime, unless instructed to do otherwise I will continue to delete potentially libellous posts.

Chief Prosecutors post on Twitter under their own name. Therefore they can be sued for libel. ABers bravely shelter behind assumed names. That means AB itself, which allow them to do so, gets sued.

Schofield has been in the media long-enough to know how the game is played.
He tried to get ahead of the story with his sudden bursting out of the closet, unfortunately the trail of his deception and reprehensible behaviour was already in the public domain and not just his 'secret' to guard or tell as he thought fit.
The damage he has done to his own career is fitting, if not full, recompense to the hurt and damage he has caused to his wife and daughters and the young man who is at the heart of this story.
