...surely we can give councils the power to move these animals on quicker. They leave carp everywhere and steal anything that's not nailed down and for good measure this time they've vandalised the pavilion. Scum.

They do not respect us. We do not respect them. Ergo, conflict of interest. They want things for nothing. We do not agree. As long as there’s a them and us mentality, there will exist little harmony.

These people are detritus, sub-human, irredeemable scum of
The highest order.

I’ve told this story before but it’s worth telling again, a few years ago we had these utter scum make camp at my rugby club.

It took us two weeks to get shot of them, but in that two weeks they robbed the club, the local shops and pubs had to close because of violence and intimidation, and when they eventually left it took a team of volunteers to clear the mess they left, which included a load of human waste and soiled nappies.

They also churned up the pitches and they were left unplayable for months.

They are scum of the highest order and I hate them with a passion.
And anybody who defends them has never experienced them.
Question Author
utter scum DD, I agree, BA
Are they really scum? Not dregs, perhaps? Or even floaters?
Question Author
DD: "And anybody who defends them has never experienced them. " - ah the usual suspects will be along soon to tell us about the misunderstood fluffy bunny lovelies they are.

If it was up to me I'd give the local authorities powers to instantly move them on and seize their posh motors and sell them to cover the costs.
It’s an absolute cast iron fact that anybody who defends them has never ever experienced them, because if they had experienced them, they wouldn’t defend them.
Power should be given to the Police.

What we need is to take a new look at the trespass laws. Trespassers should be able to be prosecuted it should not be a civil matter.
They are complete scum.
And.... you have to respect them by calling them travellers. "Gypsies" conjures up the wrong kind of image and might give people the wrong impression about these kind travelling folk. :o)
They are not gypsies they are something beginning with p that we are not allowed to say either.
Question Author
I thought Trespass is now criminal.
//anybody who defends them has never experienced them. //

I agree.
//Chief Superintendent Clare Jenkins, area commander, said: "Officers... will visit an encampment at least three times a day to make an assessment as to the number of people on site, their welfare, and the impact on the local community."//

That's not proper policing. Once again the police are ruddy social workers. The fact of the matter is the police are scared of them.
I've mentioned this before but I think worth repeating. A council, who shall be nameless has a very effective system, as soon as the travellers land the council arrive with a crane and a lorry full of concrete blocks. The travellers are told they have an hour to move on or they will be blocked in. So far they have all moved on inside the hour.
Pond Life in my opinion.
