i think some people are attracted to or turned on by people they think they can "fix"... what an ego boost if you can tame a real life monster, that kind of thing. of course it never works but one can understand the appeal of the fantasy

for others people like this are "safe" romances... you know they'll never be out of jail so you won't need to actually do anything and they are likely to be receptive out of boredom/narcissism.... it is very sad and extremely unhealthy but again i can understand it

I think see some women see marriage to monsters like him as some sort of status symbol. A bit like people who want to own dangerous dogs because they think it gives them ‘street cred’. Some people revel in low life for that very reason.
