//Russia has already stationed a first batch of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, Vladimir Putin says.

Russia's president told a forum they would only be used if Russia's territory or state was threatened.//

What is his idea of 'threatened'?

His idea of "Russian territory" has proved to be very much mistaken of late.

^Good point.
I'm unsure of the power of the weapons being sited there but, if Aleksandr Lukashenko allowed a nuclear missile to go strike a NATO nation, one wonders how long Belarus and it's people had left to exist.
After the big parade a while back one could be forgiven for seeing this as just another delusion on the part of the dough-faced tyrant and gay horse-riding icon.

What have actually been deployed are a family value pack of Standard Fireworks and one match.

The big fly in his ointment is the wind, (not only his). It prevails mostly from Ukraine to the east, - direction Europe, & from the north, direction Turkey - all NATO members.

If a purposeful nuclear attack wrought death & destruction on any NATO aligned countries Russia would be repaid promptly in kind & reduced to a cinder.

Also, they may be stationed in Belarus, but no way would they be able to deploy them - Putin would be scared they might point them it him!- and even Putin himself doesn't have a red button on his desk which he could use in a fit of rage (or dementia).

The launch codes are with the military, & I would very much doubt that they would obey such an order knowing that it would lead to their own immediate destruction.
That should be 'from Ukraine to the west' ... us!
All he's done is insure that Belarus is toast at the first sign of any sort of nuclear attack. I wonder if Lukashenko realises he's been promoted to cannon fodder.
Khandro, below link takes you to a screenshot of the wind over Central Europe at the moment. The wind doesn’t always travel West from Ukraine.

Having nuclear weapons in Belarus doesn’t make it any more likely that they would be used.
It’s more tiresome posturing by a regime which is on the rocks.
It’s always been the position that Russia says it’ll only use them if its territory is threatened.
So they used that fact last autumnto try and intimidate Ukraine’s allies.
By “annexing” 4 regions of Ukraine then (none of which they controlled completely) the implication was that their territory was now being “threatened” as it was within the war zone.
“I’m not bluffing” said Putin then.
But guess what …
Yeah. I think the more interesting aspect is, what was Belarus thinking of ? I know they may want to stay onside of Russia but it seems a big step, especially in wartime.
Belarus doesn’t think.they do what Russia says
