Although a dedicated anti-Capital punishment believer, I sometimes think perhaps it is appropriate.

This guy should be burn at the stake, but I suppose that reduces me to his level.

But just imagine what his victims must have suffered, especially the innocent children.

It's hard to believe people could be so wicked.

Poor kids and their mum :-(
By jove. I believe he’s got it. Shame a good many more hand wringing apologists for capitol punishment started thinking about the mounting butchers bill since capitol punishment was abolished and the victims
inside wherever they should pass a pint or a litre of shell v-power over to his fellow inmates so they can pour it down him, not in him, and then a box of Bryants...
They usually die from inhalation ( early) rather than being burnt to death.

a work colleague set fire to a chair and went back in with a hand extinguisher and.... didnt come out . The chair stuffing used to give off cyanide on ignition. That was the funeral I was asked to leave.
It would indeed. Imagining the victims' experience doesn't change that. But the actual punishment does seem way lenient.
\the actual punishment does seem way lenient\

That will all depend on the sentencing at Friday's hearing!!
I may have mixed up 2 horrendous cases I read recently. Could've sworn I read an account on this that mentioned 19 years.
Savages like this should swing.

I think that is why we have judges
What have Judges got to do with it?

Capital Punishment is not on the table for them.
We can only hope he gets the most horrendous treatment while he's in prison, and I hope he stays in prison for the rest of his life.
I really can't understand how someone could do this, he is obviously devoid of any feelings.
R.I.P with your Mummy little children.
Emotionally, I think we would all wish that this man suffered in a similar way to his victims.

But the law is not, and cannot be based on emotion, or it would cease to function effectively.

Killing someone for killing someone is revenge, but it doesn't stop murder happening, which is why the death penalty is never the much trumpeted 'deterrent' its supporters would wish it to be.

As for the economic cost of keeping a murderer in prison - that's the price society pays - literally - for its civilised behaviour towards its criminals.

If that makes me a bleeding heart lefty pinko yogurt knitter, that's fine, I can live with that.
I don’t wish him to suffer in the same way as his victims - I don’t wish pain on anyone. I wouldn’t object to him being given a painless lethal injection though. We put mad dogs down humanely not because we seek revenge, nor as punishment, but because they’re a danger to society, it guarantees there will not be a repeat performance - and the world is a better place without them.
I would pray - if I did pray - that anyone who equates a criminal, however evil their crime, with a dog, and believes in that 'putting down' a human is suitable behaviour in a civilised society, never gets within a country mile of being able to put their fascist ideology into practice.
If you’re referring to me, AH, I am not a fascist. I don’t agree with you - that’s all. It’s allowed.
And actually, this creature is worse than a dog. Unlike animals which act on instinct and can’t be held responsible for their actions, this murderer chose to do what he did. I’ve no sympathy for him whatsoever. There is no excuse.
//and believes in that 'putting down' a human is suitable behaviour in a civilised society, //

What's so civil about burning a mother and two children in your Utopian society? Stoke is hardly Jerusalem.
Naomi - I was not referring to you.

Put your ego down and have another read of my post, and see that at no time did I refer to you as a fascist.
Retrocop - There is nothing civilised about burning anyone, which is probably a good reason why I did not suggest that it is.

The location of my home has nothing whatever to do with the discussion.
Oh did someone else refer to dogs and putting them down, AH? I can’t see it.
