He did occasional engage some of his female guests in rather suggestive badinage. Helen Mirren and Diana Rigg spring to mind.
I like Graham Norton as a person and as a presenter but don’t like that type of chat show. However I’m not sure this type of “chat show” is intended to be as Parkinson was.
One of the best shows was when he had James Cagney and Pat O'Brian on, who were life-long friends. Truly emotional.

what a dirty rat!
....apparently he never said it! bit like "beam me up Scotty"!
Sad news. I enjoyed his guests more than I enjoyed him, but appreciate what a professional he was.

RIP Sir Michael.
Ellipsis - Thanks for that.

She's consistent, you have to give her that!
I always believed Parky was interested in all of his guests, and a little in awe of some of them. That's what made him such a good interviewer - he was genuinely interested in what they had to say, so he let them speak.
RIP
If nothing else he helped give 'jobbies' a wider audience.
There's a Tribute to Parky on Ch 5 just now (5 pm)
Sad News.
Rest easy, Sir Michael.
I respected him as a journalist, but he did to fawn a little over stars he was personally in awe with.

At least he didn't spend his time trying - and failing - to be 'funny' at his guests' expense, note to Clive Anderson, who thankfully is not allowed to foist his arrogant nonsense on television any more.
