I was looking for an update on this story earlier and it still said that he was still alive. It is sad that his act of bravery has resulted in his death.

I met a train driver whilst waiting to see my psychiatrist a couple of years back. He had hit a man on the tracks, there was nothing that he could do to avoid it and he was still severely affected by the incident. He was so sad and this was a couple of years after the event.

These events always sends shockwaves through the police community and he and his family will not be forgotten by the 'other' family.
Sorry to make a point on this sad thread but I can't help seething at the upstart Met senior officer who banned officers from wearing the 'Thin Blue Line Union Flag' badge at a recent pride march. These badges are a charitable emblem to commemorate those who have fallen in the line of duty in circumstances such as this. The proceeds go to the Widows and Orphans Fund.

I think that at such a time, we balance the tiny number of 'rogue' officers - which is lamentable, to the high number of really, really caring and brave public protectors we have. RIP skipper.
