For Those That Are Criticising Israel......
What should they do in response to the unprovoked attacks from the terrorist organisation Hamas?
Answers
I'm reluctant to answer because (a) I'm not criticising Israel and (b) you said I should stick to crosswords, but after sending an initial signal of intent as they have I think they should now focus on:
1) strengthening their own defences and intelligence as Hamas clearly caught them unawares and misled them with false communications; and
2) making sure their attacks are targeted on Hamas fighters and control centres (easier said than done, I know);
3) trying to negotiate with the Hamas controlled government (again not easy but they should show they are trying).
Back to my crossword.
I hadn't realised that Israel employs - is it called "Knock and Drop" tactics. In other words they provide advance warning of what they will bomb. I had been puzzled by Hamas threat to kill hostages if they did air strikes "without warning"
Anyway plainly war needs to be declared in Hamas. How they do that is the thing tho. I don't feel qualified to answer. I think Hamas would rather like to keep the population there as human shields and Egypt doesn't want them
Unprovoked?
// Between 2010 and 2019, nearly 3,000 Israeli settler attacks killed at least 22 Palestinians and injured 1,258 others across the occupied West Bank. //
// On February 26, at least 400 Israeli settlers attacked several Palestinian villages in Nablus, including Hawara, killing one man and injuring hundreds of others. Settlers burned down more than 30 homes and at least 100 cars while beating Palestinians with metal rods and rocks. //
When, sandyRoe? When Hamas stops attacking them - if they ever do. They'll need to do something in the meantime don't you think?

sorry tora i spent my saturday outside.... you should give it a go.
israel should end the blockade on gaza and allow its citizens to move elsewhere in the palestinian authority. they should also aid fatah in their efforts to topple hamas from within gaza... this is exactly what they did in the 2000s with the sides reversed (many seem to ignore the fact that israel supported hamas for years... i notice this fact has drawn no comment from you at all) so their efforts would be more usefully spent on a counter-coup to restore gaza to its rightful rulers under the oslo accords... unfortunately israel does not wish for a united palestinian leadership and this is why they supported hamas for so long and why they will not countenance this strategy now. they prefer to kill civilians instead by revenge bombings.
"In other words they provide advance warning of what they will bomb."
israel provides warning of no more than 5-10 minutes and frequently hits the wrong building anyway. this is not effective warning as the geneva convention calls for.
sandyRoe, that doesn't answer my question but I'm not surprised. Hamas, who are currently demonstrating very clearly that it is in the process of sating its lust for blood, has stated its purpose. To wipe Israel off the face of the earth. When do you suggest they might enter into peace talks?
You're dancing around the question with unworkable idealism, sandyRoe. Fact is, Israel is under attack from barbarians whose purpose is the total obliteration of the sworn enemy. What would you think Israel should - realistically - do about that?
