She appears to be unsackable. Some wonder if it's either because the PM would rather have her inside the tent watering the garden than in the garden watering the tent. And if she is given the boot at long last it might lose the Tories votes to the Reform Party,  which might very well spell the coup de grace electorally.

Or?

Let us not forget she has failed spectacularly in terms of stopping the boats.

Perhaps she is looking for a way out. 'I would have done it if Sunak hadn't sacked me' etc.

She is manoeuvring for a go at the Tory leadership. Probably hoping to be sacked so she can attack from the back benches.

that's my reading too. I'm surprised TTT isn't calling for her to be sacked for precisely this reason.

That would imply an actual knowledge of politics, rather than the usual mantra of Tory good, everybody else bad...

Some people are hoping for either a Boris return or a Nigel bid. If neither happens they'll take Suella as a next best option I think.

Was there the same outrage on these pages when the Shadow Home Secretary said at the time of the Sarah Everard murder, that she urged ministers to be more brutal on the police. She also happily attacked the police operational independance over the investigation of the murder.

Was her attack then no different to the Home Secretary views?
