Cameron Made Foreign Secretary
Those Brexiteers who hate the EUSSR for their (false) belief in that there is an inherent lack of democracy within the EU parliament, must be wondering how our glorious Mother of Parliaments, and democracy (ensuring those in power can be held to account) can have a Home Secretary who isn’t even an MP.
Just how corrupt is British politics when someone with Cameron’s dodgy past can be appointed to such high office without a single person in the UK voting for him – democracy or what?

Have you not noticed how weak antiBrexit politicians, lawyers without conscience, and other influential individuals, have ensured a present status quo which isn't achieving all that is needed, both for a full exit and for going forward as the citizens choose ?
Bringing in yesterday's MPs, especially replacing those who make clear their wish to implement needed change with those who never wanted change in the first place, is a clear sign that the party is giving up on working towards that which was democratically voted for and instead returning further to the 'the citizens aren't important, we are and we know best' attitude that may be the 'final nail' in making them unelectable. Since their major opposition appears worse, the outlook appears very bleak for some time to come.
I mean, come on, bringing in an anti Brexit friend of the tyranical Chinese regime sends out an appalling message over the direction this government means to drag us.
I'll try it for you, Ken. The same article I think but from the Mail. Fingers crossed.

"must be wondering <snip> Home Secretary (wrong, youd best wipe all the egg off your face) who isn’t even an MP."
seems like one of the two resident shill trolls is the person wondering, when a quick online search would have answered the troll question.....yet again OP makes self look like a com-lete and utter ( )insert word of choice...
"Just how corrupt is British politics when someone with Cameron’s dodgy past can be appointed to such high office without a single person in the UK voting for him"
All the stuff about "it's happened before" isn't relevant to the charge.
But the charge is false. Why should a government minister even be a member of either house? In theory they don't have to be - in many countries they aren't. However by convention and for reasons of accountability a government minister is made a Lord (he can't be shoehorned into the Commons of course). In the US many of the top ministers we see are not congressmen or women. A president picks people he thinks can best do the job - ok they will be people who he is likely to get on with politically, but then that also applies to our PM. When a vacancy aroose at defence, we ended up with Grant Shapps, probably for no other reason than he was available it seems. Upon which he immediately got the RAF and RN mixed up. Why not a capable ex-army person for the job?
In fact just to really get the OP riled up, the prime minister is simply another minister. There is nothing in our constitution that says he or she must be an elected MP or even a Lord: we don;t have a constitution in fact. Is that moe democratic or less democratic? And what does the above say about the idea of an elected upper house: it would mean we couldn't just bring people in and also have them as members of parliament.
Re OG's comments at 9.20: this is almost certainly one reason why Cameron was not appointed Home Secretary. Foreign Secretary, and also IMO defence as I indicated above are at least two ideal posts for experienced former politicians, diplomats, soldiers. We always complain that our MPs are useless and haven't "seen real life". Well why not a doctor as health secretary? Of course thayt has happened before but not veey often and the opportunities are surely there but not taken.
"A president picks people he thinks can best do the job "
a president usually does not pick based on merit... they pick people who have done them favours or will make attractive running-mates.
i do not understand what the problem is re: cameron being a remainer other than people simply not liking remainers. what are you afraid he is going to do in the little time the government has left? he can't do anything about brexit - it's done now
You'd think by reading some of the comments that appointing a member of the Lord's to cabinet is something new- if so we have short memories- Gordon Brown made Peter Mandelson a Lord then brought him back as Business Secretary- Blair had Lord Adonis in his cabinet, and Cameron himself had Baroness Warsi. Some would argue it never ends well.
