@23.00 Leader? Not in a million years. Sunak gave her a second bite of the apple. She let him down big time.

SP 19:44 an illusion, see the judge at 21:16 who has infinitely more patience than me for explaining this sort of thing repeatedly to you remoaners. Thanks judge.

Can anyone tell me if I am wrong.  She said Sunak has done nothing to stop the boats from coming across from France, but didn't he put her in charge of stopping them by making her Home Secretary and gave her a lot of money to help stop them.  They haven't stopped so shouldn't she be at least partly to blame for it.  Yet no mention of that in her letter only to blame him for it all.

It was her job to stop the boats and the marches - why didn't she?

^^^^ did you two read the letter? He promised here th tools, the legal tools, replace the ECHR and make sure that it can be done legally without obstacle. She was in charge but she may as well have been in charge of the light brigade. The detractors moan but then poo pooo any attempt at a solution. No one can fix this without first fixing the obstacles and that means legislation. She did not get what was promised. Sunak is like the "mate" saying "go on take them on - I am behind you" then running away when the fight starts.

Yer but, no but, yer but...

I read the letter - I read the letter from a very bitter woman who is incapable of doing her job so got sacked and now is trying to blame everyone but herself!

come on  be fair Doug, TTT is allowed not to make any sense at all

yeah is it true that a fella in armour on a horse, also in armour galloped down Downing st, and shot the letter into the door of No 10 - with a flaming arrow! ?

and suella - dressed as the mad woman in Lear cackled from a pavement? OK there isnt a mad woman in Lear but if there were

I'm unsure an agreement to get on with the stuff that they needed to get on with can be considered a "secret deal". It is the default position that everyone ought to be able to expect from government (or any job) as a bare minimum.

no one can fix the boat situation without legal changes to things like the ECHR etc, end of.

'End of'  you've been told you naughty children!!

A budget alone isn't sufficient support, unless one requires only the illusion of doing something, while ensuring any blame for lack of progress detatches from the PM and passes on to whoever was given the task. It should be clear to all that, for some while now, those appointed to the role have deliberately been given no support, from which we can only conclude that must be because there is no real desire for things to change by the PM, their appointed cabinet as a whole, the governing party, and parliament in general. None appear to have any desire to represent the will of the people, just their own selfish ambitions.

And we haven't another party who has any  strength, which is worrying.

I agree with OG.  It sounds very much like she was trying hard to get the job done but bashing her head against a brick wall.   Sunak seems very reluctant to actually do anything that might be regarded as controversial and unpopular in some quarters which makes him a weak leader and self-serving.  I think this could possibly be the final straw for Conservative voters.  He won’t be getting my vote.

Not necessarily;

Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson discusses the migrant crisis in Britain on GB NEWS

The former Prime Minister of Iceland believes he has the answer for dealing with the UK’s Channel migrant woes.

Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson appeared on GB News to tell Nigel Farage that “the best solutions are often the simple ones” when it comes to dealing with what appear to be complex issues.

In a swipe at the current political hierarchy, Gunnlaugsson said issues are often overcomplicated.

He offered a solution that he claims would not only benefit Britain, but would also be in the best interests of the French.

“Looking at it from the outside, it’s simple. Politicians make these things complicated”, he said.

“When a boat comes with illegal migrants, take them on the land, give them a bottle of water, then bring them back to France.

Strength is irrelevant, if Starmer gets the keys to no 10 he'll have the same problem. We are stymied by our own laws and the ECHR. Anything anyone tries in blocked by trobiscite legal challenges. Then they very blockers moan that nothing is done. We need to stop the boats physically and send back the illegals,  in order to do that we must make the law unchallengable. Doesn't matter who is in no 10 we need to enable government to do what we need doing without months of legal entanglements.

"When a boat comes with illegal migrants, take them on the land, give them a bottle of water, then bring them back to France." - great but we can't legal challenges by HWB et al.

I have explained the answer many times but the problem is that France wants to punish itself and us for leaving the EUSSR. If they calmed down a bit and allowed us to send them strauight back they'd not even bother to come to France. Problem solved for us both. Sadly they are still angry with brexit so it's more important to them to punish us and at the same time themselves.

We're grateful for your patience in guiding us through this o wise one.
