Very interesting interview with Robert Jenrick, who resigned as Immigration Minister over the Rwanda Bill a couple weeks ago.

Worth a listen if you have 20 mins.

No, I don't have 20mins. Can you precis what he said?

Question Author

He spoke about the Rwanda Bill and why he felt he had to resign from the government. About how different factions of the Tory party want different things from the Bill but what needs tohappen is that the Bill ultimately needs to be workable. It can't promise one thing and fail to deliver - and as the Bill stands, it's likely to fail.

He also made the point that without a frank conversation about immigration right wing populist parties will subvert the narrative as has happened in Europe.

It was a much broader interview than what you normally see (point-scoring), and better for it.

Well he's not a minister any more - interviews with back benchers tend be more candid. Unkind folk mind you say he was narked at not being made Foreign Secretary 😉

Thank you sp1814.

He sounds like a Suella supporter that's gone because she has. Same reasons.
