he might perhaps have refrained from sexually assaulting her and then also from defaming her if he was worried about the consequences. but people like him never think consequences will reach them

I'm curious what Naomi thinks the punishment should be for somebody who has been found to have sexually assaulted someone, who has lied about it repeatedly, who has continued to insult and defame their victim, and who shows obvious and repeated contempt for the rule of law in both this matter and every other.

I would think the damages are 'harsh' because he won't shut up!

perhaps now he will learn his lesson but he won't!!

he really should think about his choice of lawyer in future too and his reasoning for picking her!

personally in my opinion the odious man deserves it.

ClareTG0ld, I believe his identity played a major part in his punishment.

Perhaps, but then his identity has also played a major part in the fact that he's been able to evade facing criminal justice for a lot of things - especially recently, where he's trying to hide behind, on the one hand, the (false) idea that being President gives you total immunity for everything ever, and on the other the idea that possibly becoming President should mean that Courts have to wait until after the election before proceeding with any trial.

The law doesn't apply to Trump in his world at all. Never has, never should. A punitive fine is unlikely to change his view; but at least it might give this victim some comfort.

This amount is not extortionate or harsh. If you choose to play with the big boys by gobbing off then theres going to be a price to pay. The bigger you are the harder you fall. Any lesser amount would have been loose change, and have no impact at all.

Cl @ 9:21...yes, I am. Very much so.

I agree nicebloke.

The amount is deliberately designed to be enough to make Trump shut up and stop defaming the woman.

Clearly, if it was 50k, he would ignore it completely and carry on his slander and libel unabated.

The jury has considered that for a man of his wealth, this is the amount that will work.

His ludicrous antics in court won't have helped.

I thought you would be Pasta. Its such a shame for the majority of Americans that he and his followers have changed people's feelings about America.

I can't believe he still has followers here and the US after his antics at the Capitol rally, none so blind as the brainwashed!

I honestly feel that this man has a blatant disregard for both the law and democracy and, as such, is very dangerous. I believe that, should he be re-elected, the USA is in great danger of being broken up.

Brainwashed? More like no brain at all. They say money talks, well I'm pretty sure it does, and it talks both ways, hence the amount, not enough in my view. :0)

The truth could be anything but most ABers are not interested in the truth when it comes to Trump. They are not interested in the sleaze that surrounds Biden.

Anyway...

Well I'll raise a glass when he ceases to be.

Must get back to my voodoo doll now.

What setback?? This will just make his followers more determined than ever .

I've no doubt that if he gets back into office, he will set about changing things to his liking. Laws, the justice department, even the Constitution...will go out the window. And his followers...who are fearful of doing otherwise...will go along with it as their necks will be on the chopping block.

He's only likely to win because Biden is hopeless.

Replace Biden and it's problem solved.

Biden has nothing to do with Trump's misdemeanors or crimes. This thread is about Trump and criminality.
