The problem with the EU is that,like the tax man, the wheels turn very slowly even if they do get there in the end.

Ukraine needs help now and I fear there will be a long road from agreeing to actual paying.

Good news. I don't what they did to Orban but I'm glad it worked.

Dealing with the maga creeps in Congress won't be easy though. They demanded a deal on border crossings to pass Biden's ukraine/Israel aid Bill, and when he gave them it they said, actually we've changed our minds (as instructed to by Trump). Says it all really.

Some republicans in Congress rightly see this as a weakness in the current administration, especially some November: at the moment the president trails badly in key swing states. So for them it is not in their interests to pass legislation now.

Not that massive really. Just common sense unless one is brainwashed beyond repair. They demanded a deal to link Ukraine aid to immigration. They got one. Trump told them not to accept it. They didn't. Do a bit of googling. The information is all there.

In fairness this is not really a derailment - I think what happened was: there was a bill in Congress to put through the aid to Ukraine. Some republicans - a minority - wanted to tie the border issue to it which delayed it. When Biden moved, instead of using that at as issue to stop aid to Ukraine, the Reps  then used Ukraine as an excuse for blocking the other. 
What is needed is a separate Bill - which as far as I know there isn't but I've noy being paying huge attention  to the Capitol recently. Then if republicans block it they will be seen for what they are. HoR is pretty much at the mercy of speaker Johnson: this all came to a head with him. However  as I recall more Dems than Reps voted for him at the time

Bear in mind trump/maga doesn't give a chuff about Ukraine, and have basically said as much. They just want to sabotage anything Democrats try to do.

I'd advise people to Google 'Trump stops border deal' and read a variety of articles to get the background.
