... as Russian estimated deaths in Ukraine top 400,000

Didn't agree with him on everything but an extremely brave man who brought desperately needed attention to vladimir putin's corrupt regime... and obviously murdered one way or another by the state

-- answer removed --

Well of course it was natural causes. Well natural for Russia. Just like all those Russians who are trying to defy Newton's Law on Gravity.

my assumption would be on a deliberate infliction of conditions inimical to life rather than anything more direct but we will see

Peskov said: "Putin has been informed"

That made me laugh. On the other hand, maybe someone has messed up.

And we have people on answerbank making it there life's waking hours to concern themselves who will be the next U.S. President. Jeeeeeeezuse!!!

Well it's a bit more interesting than the question who'll win the Russian "election" 😄

I don't suppose there will be a P/M or an inquest .

The only surprise is it hasnt happened sooner.

Despicable regime.

Extremely sad news, I pray his death will in some way have a positive outcome, that is what he would have wished.

A real man!

Navalny wan't everyone's cup of tea (so to speak) but what he was was fearless, persistent, irreverent and ruthless in his desire not only to expose corruption but to mock those in power. All those things would have marked him a dead man walking: having survived one attempted assassination, it was always likely that he would be murdered eventually.

A brave man. RIP Alexei Navalny ...

i wonder if russia will ever have democracy, some say its such a huge country, its needs a hard leader to run it, america is alos a big country as is india, so it's possible to have democracy, pity your average russian living under fear of one sort or another.

A true and genuine Russian patriot. R.I.P.

Russia was a failed Tsarist Regime, followed by failed pretend Communism, and now a pretend Democracy, but really all the time it has never been anything other than Dictatorship.

So it continues, with the great 'unwashed' beaten into submission (with the few exceptions such as this man) caring of little beyond the cost of vodka.

Putin is the worst thing that has happened to Russia since Stalin's brutalist regime. I'm  sure there will be a great outpouring of sorrow (and an even greater one of relief) when he dies.

This is a strange time for this to happen in my opinion. There is a risk however small that the "elections" might be disrupted or at least punctuated by protests. And it's not as if they've been coy about it: splurged all over state media. Is this a confident Putin who thinks he's on a winner rubbing in the fact that he can do as he pleases? I suspect so.

On Feb 24 2022 he doubtlessly thought similarly - and that didn't go well ...

It has just been confirmed by a Russian observer that there has been hardly any coverage at all about this on Russian media, just a brief statement on the Putin-controlled Channel 1, on which he says if they ever mention him at all, he is referred to as 'that gentleman'.

We now await an "autopsy report"  - ha-ha!
