the UN's high commissioner on human rights has expressed grave concern over treatment of palestinian women and girls held captive by israeli forces in both gaza and the west bank
their sources (named at the bottom of the link) report abuses such as
- execution of whole families including children
- rape and sexual assault
- torture
- abduction
surely these allegations require an independent and thorough investigation? why have these allegations gone unreported?

But while discussion is obviously a good thing, we should all be mindful, whatever our position is, that no-one on any thread has expressed specific support for the actions of either side.
With that in mind, accusations of such support should cease, because if they continue, the thread will escalate in its hostiity, and it will obviously end up being closed, which would be a pity.
So how about we all take a breath, and remember that our fellow AB'ers are nice people like us, and they do not support violence, from whatever quarter it may originate.
I would agree with that Ynna, but still, that does not justify the rape, torture and murder of innocent Gaza civilians by Israeli forces. The difference between us and the Hamas terrorists is that we are better than they are. We don't commit similar attrocities. I'm not sure it Israel can claim that anymore. The line in the sand is getting feint.

this thread is not about Hamas andy. it has been dragged onto that subject by people who do not wish to reckon with the OP. //
My apologies, I should perhaps have said 'A thread involving the on-going crisis in The Middle East', to avoid zeroing in on specific protagonists.
"I will keep on saying it then Mozz"No 7th October attack,no 30,000 dead,(No torture,rape or execution).""
but some of these instances are happening in the west bank which has nothing to do with october 7th... furthermore israel has been found to have conducted human rights abuses against palestinians for decades, going back much much further than october 7th... they have also been caught lying about it several times

this did not start on october 7th. it is a pattern of behaviour that goes back decades.
Andy states above that no-one has stated support for either side. I would like to go on record here and now and say I wholeheartedly and unashamedly support the right of Israel to exist, and to defend itself against Hamas, and to eradicate the terrorist threat. I completely support Israel as a nation, and would defend the Jewish people against any organisation that threatens their right to a homeland. This doesnt mean I support the methods currently employed by the IDF. But I very much do support the nation of Israel.
both of the links i provided above concern abuses of human rights (including extrajudicial killing) by israel years before hamas took power in gaza. they were doing it before, they've done it since, and there are reports suggesting that they are doing it now.
i too support israel's right to exist. what i do not support is their right to conquer and subjugate surrounding territories. israel can exist perfectly well within its original borders. it has no right to the gaza strip, to the west bank, or to the golan heights. nor should it be allowed to brutalise the population of those places merely because they are our ally... but that is exactly what is happening! the UK, canada, USA, Germany all throw their weight behind Israel with money and weapons in our name and support them doing this. it is wrong. it is always wrong regardless of who does it.
