Not excusing the disgraceful invasion of a fundraising event, but it was a major mistake politicising the role of Police and Crime Commissioners.

Cameron and May pushed this through in 2011, and ever since, the important role of overseeing the Police has gone to failed politicians from either side.

Ben Adams, for whom the fundraiser was for his election campaign, is a several times failed Conservative parliamentary candidate. Hence political protestors think this was a legit target.

That is why we need police commissioners roy. Because they cannot be trusted to moderate themselves. Remember the people in the restaurant were not plod. They were people who were likely to be watching them.
